You Must Be Yoking

Daily Photo:

I have no idea what a yoke and flyback is, but I thought the industrial designers of this piece of engineering testing equipment chose a pretty shade of powder blue.

I'm such a chick.

Indeed.

I heard one forum member say that Roy Delgado said, "hey, I've got a Jubilee in the anechoic chamber... wanna hear it?"

The forum member said, "yeh, you bet!"

So Roy fired up the system and played a sweep of test tones!

Yokes and flybacks - for measuring the magnetic coils for CRTs (TV picture tubes)

Yokes create the magnetic field using a sawtooth wavefore that directs the beams of electrons coming from the cathode ray gun.  By using two coils, one for hoizontal, and one for vertical, you can spray the electrons to the four corners of the screen.

Well Dee, that's probably music to Roy's ears
