Welcome to Klipsch Land

Daily Photo:

I'm starting to feel like a virtual tour guide.  Please visualize being a part of a large group, me walking backwards ("We're walking, we're walking") and speaking in an annoyingly monotone, condescending voice:

Here we have a Klippel Distortion Analyzer, mainly used to measure the linearity of motor structures and quickly identify TS Parameters.  This rig is a custom built motor clamp for holding the woofer under test while being measured by the laser.  Klippel uses a displacement laser to measure the excursion of a woofer while also measuring the woofer electrical parameters (current draw, resistance, etc.).  Using some acoustics equations it then calculates the TS parameters of the woofer as well as graphing the linearity of the motor structure.  Centering of the voicecoil, resistance of the suspension, etc.

Now if you honestly believe I knew or came up with any of that on my own, please keep your arms and legs inside the tram at all times, and remember that you are parked in Gullible Lot 5.

Thanks for the Klippel site Amy! Very Interesting!

Amy I would like to suggest that Klipsch should have a place on it's webb site(not just the Blog section) were people are introduced and shown the cutting edge technology that is being used by Klipsch. It's really very impressive IMO!

Now for your next mission:  If I remember correctly it was refered to as a "SLA" Machine that could build prototypes of devices layer by layer and if you are so inclined I would love to see and learn more about it.

Thanks Again

Hey Mike,

I'm on it!

But if we had a section about this stuff, what on earth would I do?  :)
