Chuck Taylors

I admit, I had a pair in high school.  I thought I was the bomb.  They were black, but I grew tired of how dark they were and tried to bleach them.  The result was kind of a splotchy army green, but hey - that was cool too.

In celebrating college game day today (go Purdue!) with jeans and tennies permitted, product development guy Don - ever the bargain hunter - is sporting a pair of Chucks with the Jackass logo <insert joke here> found on clearance for 10 bucks.  I wish I could find wearable shoes for 10 bucks.

I think everybody growing up had one or more pair of Chuck Taylor's.

Our oldest daughter even had (and probably still has) a pair in leopard print.

Chuck was born in Azalia Indiana an unincorporated town in Sand Creek Township in Barthalomew county (according to Wikipedia).  I had read Columbus Indiana in the past so Azalia must be near Columbus? .

ooo, I like the logo. I have a pair of red Chucks that look cool but aren't much good for walking around in- they have like no arch support.

Dad used to say that the little round thingie on the side of Converse sneakers was so that your pants leg wouldn't catch on fire when you ran fast.

My kids have all had pairs in different colors. Right now, I'm sportin' a pair of Kangaroos, in black leather. When I went to get some Taylors, I couldn't find what I wanted, so I tried these.

Oh, a GREAT place to get shoes is Zappos (online).
