Live from The Klipsch Lobby

Last Friday's shin-dig was a great success, thanks in large part to J.J.s band, seen here playing the terrace level center foyer. The show was the loudest I've heard in a long time, although I must reach back nearly 5 years ago this summer to recall a live show.  And for those of you doing the math, yes, I was about 8 months pregnant at the time.  I got some weird looks at that X-Fest, I gotta admit.

Many thanks go out to J.J. and all the organizers of Uno de Mayo!!

Thanks to good ole Michael Colter for helping us pull this one off.  Trey and I would have been hard pressed to get the job done with out your help Michael.

We tried an experiment that I have never done before.  I know the band was going to be loud since acoustic drums always pump up the volume.  To minimize the SPL of the drums we positioned them under the open area of the Terrace Level. This would allow the sound to go up and out to other floors.  The throw from the stage was very short so we decided to set the stage up in the round.  This would make it more sociable for everyone.  The problem is that there is no one "mix", because we didn't have a "Main" (Front of House) mix. There was no front.  So this added complication to the design.

In the end everyone had a great time!  The Margarita's didn't hurt.

I've never stood next to a louder snare in my life! It was an interested setup that's for sure. You'd have thought that Trey, Mark and I had roadie'd together for years. But *** JJ's guys play loud- but with heart!

It doesn't get much better than live music!

So you get to have bands play at work and drink too? Where do I sign up?
