Once again I'm on the cusp of a week-long vacation -- my second in almost 3 months -- and I'm not really sure how to act. It's got me so discombobulated that I can't think of one thing to write about today. Not one single thing. I know it's hard to believe, but even though I'm quiet most of the time, I rarely run out of things to say. Maybe it's because I'm so quiet.
Anyway, I'll just write about how I'm taking another vacation. And about how quiet I am.
Ok, done.
And now I must leave you with a daily photo. Here's one. This will be me next week.
I noticed I hadn't posted a "Wildlife Inside I-465" shot in a while, so I ventured out in search of a critter. I failed at finding a furry or feathered variety, so I had to settle for the insect variety. Have you ever tried to photograph a butterfly? Stupid things don't stay still very long, I can tell you that.
Tomorrow marks my 10 year anniversary with Klipsch. As I think back over those 10 years and about how much my life has changed, I find comfort knowing this place has remained my constant. In that I'm constantly telling people how to pronounce Clip-shh.
So in honor of this remarkable day, I'd like to share some of my favorite memories of the last 10 years of drawing a paycheck from the greatest speaker company in the world:
Answering the want ad in the Indy Star classifieds that merely said "Tech Support Help" along with a fax number. I still can't believe I trusted such a cheesy and non-informative ad. Attending my first employee appreciation luncheon when we could still all fit at a large table in a reasonably sized restaurant.
The days Steven has had to come to work with me, for one crisis-reason or another.
The first time I was locked inside the anechoic chamber.
My one and only trip to Hope, Arkansas. We arrived Tuesday, November 7, 2000, and I went to sleep in the hotel that night thinking we had elected one president and waking up to find out it was really the other. Then later, it was the other. Then I lost track. Oh, and the awesome chicken salad sandwich I had in that one deli. Mmm.
My one and only visit to Los Angeles for the E3 gaming conference. Those people are crazy.
Moving to our new headquarters a few months after my hire date. I felt like The Jeffersons.
Joining the marketing department in 2005. I love these guys.
The friends I've made.
The first time Steven pointed out Klipsch speakers in a public place all by himself. Proud moment indeed.

Probably not the best time to reference an oil spill disaster, but I just can't help myself.
After hailing the Goldfish Dispenser as the best invention ever last week, I'm compelled to footnote that claim by saying "when it's not broken." Poor Steve here innocently tried to grab a morning snack when disaster struck.
Good thing it happened in engineering so we can get to the bottom of it quickly.
So I bought a new car last week... well, new to me anyway. They are currently fixing a minor issue (sunroof sensor), so I don't have it yet. Let me tell ya, I'm so excited I can hardly sit still. I haven't bought a car in over 10 years. But more on that later... for now, you get another peek at the eclectic bit of nonsense that is my iPod playlist.
This song always has and always will remind me of two things: My mother and the movie American Graffiti, not necessarily in that order. My mom because she loves The Platters and is a 50's music junky, and the movie because I saw it when I was a kid and could never figure out why Shirley was dancing with Richie during this song. I thought she was with Carmine "The Big Ragu?"
Next to the folded horn, of course. Ok, and the wheel.
I give you............the Goldfish Dispenser!

Do you ever think back on your life and wonder how you got from there to here? I can specifically remember people I've met, jobs I've landed or decisions I've made that severely skewed my direction from one way to another. Were the decisions right? Did we actually have control of them? Some allude to life being an enormous arc with experiences and knowledge contained underneath, but in my mind, it looks more like a strange game of connect the dots. I'm not really sure what the finished drawing is going to look like, but hopefully it will be somewhere between a Spongebob and a Mona Lisa.
Yes I'm turning 40 in 2 months. Shut up.
Love this one. Love that he's wearing such a ridiculous thing on his head, yet looks so serious at the same time. I think I would've gotten along with Mr. Klipsch famously.
In case you can't read it, the sign on the wall says "The Lord Giveth, The Government Taketh Away."
Well, here we are, a typical Friday morning in the marketing department. But not really. Today is Sarah's last day (the one with the Bears T shirt), as she is moving on to an exciting job opportunity after 7 and a half years of writing her heart out for all our brands. We will miss her terribly, but at the same time wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors. It just won't be the same without her!
But wait, a sec... she's a Bears fan. GOOD RIDDANCE!
(who loves ya, Sarah?)
I know it's so not cool to gush over celebrities, but hey, I've been know to do it from time to time. I never said I was cool.
We got this nice mention from Drew Brees yesterday via Twitter. So now I'm following him. Which always sounds creepy to me, but I blame the twit-lingity.
Did I just make up a new word?
You can follow Drew here, and Klipsch here. Tweet ya later!
Have a great long weekend, everyone!
I hope your fireworks are spectacular, parades lengthy, and fireflies bountiful.
(Read Part I here) ... and Prince Charming Hunter was reunited with the magical Khorn, and it was placed in the Lobby of Great Prominence for generations to enjoy.
The End.
