I found this photo hanging in my local Dairy Queen. I had to look twice to make sure it actually said Hope, Arkansas. No doubt I looked like an idiot taking a picture of a picture, but who cares. I mean, what are the odds of this being on display in my hometown when Hope plays such an key role in my career-life? Perhaps DQ was founded in Hope, just like Klipsch?
A Google search later, I found out DQ was not founded in Hope, but rather Illinois. And I learned this photo was used in a recent promotion for the restaurant's anniversary celebration and is currently found in chains across the nation. So the odds were actually high that I would see it somewhere. Anywhere. But it was fun to think that it was a cool coincidence for a minute.
Ever notice how one question leads to more questions? Like, who the heck were the Zonks, anyway? Why were they playing in Hope? And why did DQ change the name of the Mr. Misty? We may never learn. Unless we Google.
