There is a spider who lives just outside my garage. I discovered her last week, but I have no idea how long she's been there. Every evening like clockwork, I watch her spin an amazing web, connecting my light, bushes, and corner of the house together in the most intricate design with steadfast determination. Every morning I look for her again, and I inevitably find the sad, broken web blanketing the bushes. Dusk arrives, and out she appears from hiding, busily spinning into the night.

Some may find the tireless acrobatics and detailed artistry a waste of time, but it seems perfectly logical to me. We all weave an intricate pattern during our daily lives.... just to survive.
