Beans by the Horn Load

Sunday was a beautiful day for tailgating in the Circle City. With wood cut outs of our loveable headphone mascots in tow, we arrived bright and early to Hurst Bean Field in the shadow of Lucas Oil Stadium for games and prizes. And when I say "we," I mean a customer service rep, an engineer, and two marketing managers. Quite a combo, if you think about it.

By tossing a miniature Klipsch branded Colts blue-and-white football through the heads of our mascots (a little creepy, really), winners were ecstatic to walk away with either Image S4 or S2 headphones, and a chance to win the grand prize HD Theater 300 at the end of the day. All participants got to take home a tiny football... win-win!

Aside from one volunteer arriving an hour early (psst, Derek, Indiana has been participating in DST since spring 2006), the event went without a hitch. The best part was probably seeing 200 or so miniature Klipsch footballs being hurled through the parking lot, and of course hearing local music talents Dave and Rae belting it out from the loading docks. Oh, and the matching track suits.

Special thanks to Matt Huntley and Hurst Beans for making the event possible. There simply isn't a valid reason for not buying Hurst...a family tradition in central Indiana since 1938. And we're all about family traditions.

Ok, so my faithful readers know I don't like to spend a lot of time gushing about our products on my blog...after all, that's not why I do what I do, but I have to make an exception today. Because this is just too cool. And I'm so very proud of everyone involved -- from the product developers and engineers to public relations and beyond.

Our Image S4 Headphones have been named by CNET as the Top Rated Product of the Summer. As in #1 Top Rated. As in we beat the latest release of Windows and the iPod 3GS both.

You may have noticed our new mascot for Image headphones on our home page or various email promotions. Our expert in-house engineering technician recently built this pair in the wood shop so they can go out in the world for goofy photo-ops o'plenty. Take this one, for instance. I'm pretty sure Phil didn't want me posting it, but that's just too bad. A bit creepy, yes?

This morning a few employees were able to gather in the Klipsch Cafe for coffee and doughnuts to watch The Ellen Show. We don't normally do that, but our new Image S4 headphones happened to be featured today as the prize for guest Kevin Nealon saying the "secret word." It was fun to watch, and even more fun to see a moving display of our headphone boxes roll out onto the stage like a giant birthday cake. Well done, PR department!

Uno de Mayo

This Friday marks the first day of May - the beginning of what is my favorite month of the year. I love the emerging flowers, baby geese (even though they grow up), festivities leading up to The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, and sense of a new beginning in the not-yet-too-hot air. Hopefully it will be a new beginning for a lot of people who have seen rough times this past year.

Klipsch is kicking off the month with a launch party for the Image S4 headphones, which are the most affordable of our in-ear headphones with the uber comfortable patent-pending ear gels. Because the day falls close to Cinco de Mayo, we'll be adopting that theme with chips and salsa, margaritas, and this piñata. The darn thing has been looming over the marketing area for a few days now. It's a little creepy the way it stares, so it will be fun taking some whacks at it.

Our unique patent-pending contour ear gels for our headphone line are profoundly comfy, but to convince the average-Joe we have found it necessary to stock Fit-Kits at places of purchase. I mean, we can sit here telling you how great they are until we are blue in the face, but until you are able to try it for yourself, you won't buy a word of it. So our headphone team was hard at work on Friday, assembling a massive amount of kits to be sent tout de suite to Guitar Centers everywhere. More outlets are sure to follow.
