Is that appropriate? How far should we take it? Do they make greeting cards? While the jubilation and straw-throwing makes me smile, what makes me actually laugh is the ominous looking boy lurking at the top of the pile. What on earth is he up to? And what is on his head? It has all the makings of a great horror movie -- several happy go-lucky kids having the time of their lives while one neglected loner looks on in disdain...

Happy Halloween, you guys! Don't eat too much candy, because that means you must have stolen it from some poor unsuspecting kid. Of course I wouldn't say that in the dead of winter, but this is ridiculous. We aren't supposed to water the lawn any more, and the county-wide firework and burn ban is in full force. It's like we're in this episode of the Twilight Zone.

I'm glad the city was still able to put on their fireworks show Wednesday. I took some photos, just in case we all incinerate and I never get the opportunity again. (As you can sense, I'm a ray of sunshine when it's hot out.)

I hope everyone is staying cool and being safe. Fill up those kiddie pools (unless you're under a watering ban), and crank up the rock speakers!

Wrapping up the Month.

It has been the craziest of crazy Decembers at Klipsch. We've launched 3 new Reference headphones, the Gallery G-17 Air, the Mode M40s.... completely sold out of both models of ProMedia 2.1 - which is a real testament to that 11 year old product. It has as much staying power around here as I do, apparently!

As the shopping season dwindles down, I can finally pause to enjoy the season...one of my favorite weeks of the entire year, actually. The anticipation of Christmas far outweighs the day itself. I love the excitement and good will (mostly) in the air. Because let's face it, the day after, I'm ready to take down the tree and put everything away. Over it.

But for now, I'll enjoy reflecting on Christmases past with the faintest of smiles. Does anyone else with older kids miss these days? I actually took that photo of Christmas lights (at the Indianapolis Zoo) from a moving carousel. And some days my head is spinning so fast, I have no idea any more what I'm looking at, which reminds me of the photo. I find it helps to force myself to slow down from time to time so I can actually focus on one thing. Can I pause right here for <strike>station identification</strike> a product plug? Those of you who pay attention to such things might know that I love my Image X10s. LOVE. My tiny ears can tolerate nothing else. So when it comes time to find that focus, I put them in and fire up my Mumford and Sons Pandora channel. Don't ya love Pandora, by the way? I feel like it knows me.

See, I'm all over the place again today. Christmas Lights from a Carousel. But let me get back to you later, I see something shiny.

Some of us are nerdier than others.

Exhibit A. But after my third cup of coffee or so, I began to feel guilty in my shallowness, and I took it upon myself to do some reading, listening and teaching about the man himself -- what he stood for and his undying legacy. Although I've heard the "I have a dream" speech a hundred times (and it never fails to give me goose bumps), I had yet to share it with someone who has never heard it. Or understood it. Or even knew of its existence.

I think I love history so much because in its learning, the chance of repeating mistakes of the past is greatly diminished. So I pass along what I can, to my own tiny legacy in this world. May his eyes, ears, and heart remain wide open for the rest of his days.

The Scene at My House

Light posting this week since I'm only in the office one day.
