I love the emerging flowers, baby geese (even though they grow up), festivities leading up to The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, and sense of a new beginning in the not-yet-too-hot air. Hopefully it will be a new beginning for a lot of people who have seen rough times this past year.

Klipsch is kicking off the month with a launch party for the Image S4 What they endure on a daily basis, I can't imagine.

On the left, we have Kiki-Fry, whom you have met before, and on the right is newly married Bird-Key, whose cubicle you have seen before. Notice the genuine smiles? Yeah, they are laughing at me. Because the lighting in that room is so bad, and because I hate flash photography, I had to open the lens wider to let more light in. Camera geeks will know this results in a blurred image if you do not keep the camera (and your laughing subjects) still. Not only did I have to use a <strike>tripod</strike> chair in an attempt to accomplish this, I also had to use my wallet to prop it up to the right angle. Because I couldn't push the dern button down without moving the entire thing into the cushioned seat, I used the timer -- which slowed the process considerably. To add to the fun, the office chair I was using was slowly swiveling, making it difficult to keep the subjects in the frame. I felt like we were re-enacting a scene from a Three Stooges movie, except I was playing all three stooges.

But hey, I never said I was a professional. Obviously. Besides, doesn't capturing these lovely faces make it worth it?

Every year the giant horn in our engineering lobby is converted into a makeshift tree, and my favorite touch has always been the clever ProMedia GMX satellite angel perched on the top. The Melissas have truly outdone themselves this year. And yes, the only two girls that are found in our engineering center are both named Melissa. What are the odds?

New Member of the Family

My long weekend consisted of no less than 3 Thanksgivings: my dad's, my brother's (who hosted his in-laws), and my mom's. This year, among other things, I was thankful for not having to cook.

A highlight of the holiday was meeting my sister's new puppy, Buster, because it reminded me of how I used to love having dogs. I've had at least one (usually more than one) consistently as far back as I can remember, up until about 5 years ago... from D.G. the dachshund, whose name was actually my first documented word, and Maggie, the hyper German shepherd we had during my toddler years that used to let me ride her around like a pony, all the way up to my last -- Josie, the rottweiler, who was the Best Dog Ever. In fact, I can count at least 12 dogs that have drifted in and out of my life, breaking my heart at some point along the way.

I had all but forgotten how much these loveable creatures add to life. Although my house is chaotic as it is -- and the possibility of another heart ache would loom in the future -- dog ownership is definitely something I will be considering seriously very soon. Admittedly, the hassle-free existence of not having a pet has been like being on an extended vacation, but I can't imagine Steven going through childhood without one.

Dwight: A Look Back

To get everyone in the mood for tomorrow, let's take a look back at Dwight's visit with forum member Iain (seti) last Thanksgiving.
