I have for sale one pair of 1970's walnut veneer Klispschorns which were purchased from the office of Tompall Glaser at the old Glaser Studios on 19th Ave. South in Nashville, Tennessee.
Tompall Glaser (born September 3, 1933) is an American country music singer in the Outlaw genre. He led a group known as Tompall & the Glaser Brothers. He was also featured on the album Wanted! The Outlaws (1976) with Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, and Willie Nelson. Glaser's songs on the album were T For Texas and Put Another Log on the Fire.
Glaser's Streets of Baltimore has been covered by Gram Parsons on his first solo album, GP. It has also been covered by Nanci Griffith on her album Other Voices, Too.
I purchased these and moved them to the den in my home in Brentwood, Tennessee (about 12 miles south of Nashville) in 1985.
They are in original condition with all original electronics, crossovers and horns. There is one very slightly damaged piece of veneer on the top front strip which can be easily repaired if desired. Klipsch will sell a strip of the veneer and the appropriate stain to replace it. I chose to keep them in their original condition due to the historical nature of the speakers.
I am selling them because:
1. I live in Toronto and I don't have space for them here, so I don't get to listen to them often.
2. I am raising money to buy a guitar with historical significance that I want very bad.
These speakers, as you know will require a large cargo van or truck for transportation. I will not ship.
These are great sounding speakers and I hate to give them up, but I will have to be satisfied with my 1970's Heresy's which I still own.
