    Quartet pair for sale

    I bought my Quartets c. 1989 for $1,100.

My partner and I have just bought new den furniture and the speakers "need to go," I'm told. They are in very good shape. One of the cloth grills has some parafin "staining" on it from a misbehaving candle; otherwise, I have cared for these babies since I was a freshman in college.

It seems like the pair have been going from $250-$500. Any ideas? Any interest?

I guess I am somewhat surprised the speakers have fallen so much in value, but I guess most things do over time. The Audioengine A5s I just bought were >$300!

I live in Lexington, KY. So do the speakers. Smile

Did you demo the Audioengines VS the Quartet's at all?   I'd be interested in the differences, altho would expect less bass output.

I know the reviewers in Sterophile were pretty excited about them.     Good luck with your Quartet sale!

Nah, I never demo'd the A5s. I saw so many glowing reviews and saw their size and snagged them.

I got the A5s for $306.36 shipped, which I thought was a very good price.

They are bass light for sure but subwoofer could be added if oyu wanted. I think their FR goes down to 60Hz or something similar (without looking).

anyone looking for Forte' IIs owes it to themselves to look at Quartets too...VERY similar but slightly smaller than Forte' II and like (IMO) Heresys with more bass...I have too pair and properly placed (they have rear firing passive radiators) sound better than my Heresys...hurts a bit to say that...bump for you...if they are closer to $250 you will sell them quickly...closer to $350 people might look elsewhere...just an opinion...good luck with your sale.

    Re: Quartet pair for sale

    Hello, all.

A lucky Houston buyer has picked these up for $275, so this set is now gone.

    Thanks for your interest.
