I need info on my speakers

I just bought a set of RF-35 Loudspeakers off E-bay and I recieved them today. My question to anyone who can answer is , the labels on the back read that they are indeed RF-35's but one label say's 150 watt max, and on the other label on the other speaker it say's 125 watt max. There is also no inspection signiture on either one. Can anyone tell me why this would be? I hope I didn't just get dooped on these. Thanks, jeffdbodean

    Welcome to the forum.

That is sort of odd. Klipsch specs the RF-35 at 125 watts.

It could be helpful to browse the auction description. If you wouldn't mind posting the item number or a link. Are they sold as new? Used? Individual seller? or dealer?

Other folks are pretty familiar with what the labels are supposed to look like. I'm sure they will chime in to help.

If possible to post pics of the labels, that would be helpful, too.

Earlier on this week someone posted some Klipsch speakers up for auction which had a different label affixed to the speaker. In the case from earlier this week, it probably meant that the speakers, authentic Klipsch, had been sold by an unauthorized dealer.

As long as the speakers work o.k., that's not really cause for alarm. Could present a problem if warranty repairs were needed, but the quality is such that this isn't a likely need.

btw, congrats. You do have some nice speakers there.

    Jeff,

Did you buy the RF 25 off Ebay from the Link I sent you?   I ask cause I went back to the Listing and noticed that the Seller did not have any pictures of the Labels on that auction...........not trying to scare you, just wondered.  Regards

I recall that a fellow, long ago, pointed out that some Forte have a notation that they are 4 ohm nominal impedance, and others say 8 ohms.  I doubt that anything physically changed.  But the standards for writing specifications can change or the performance be re-appraised.

The fair inference is that Klipsch changes notations from time to time.

I don't know about lack of writing.  I wouldn't worry because I recall that people have lables where the ink has faded.

Overall, I doubt that there is a swindle.  Ususally the problem with E-Bay purchases is that drivers are blown.  In the case of a purchase by me, it was advertised that one of the pair of Quartets had a bad tweeter.  Upon arrival, both were blown.

We'd all love to see pictures, of course.

Can you post pictures? Were these bought from a online dealer on EBAY or a private seller? If the speakers are in fact authentic Klipsch speakers the warranty would not transfer to you if bought from a private seller. That would be the only reason to need the sticker as far as I know.

If the sticker on your RF35 looks anything other than like this one - you have been taken. 125W rating...

Hi, they look like that it's just that one say's 150 watt input and the other say's 125 watt input power and they are both rf-35's, seem's strange for the descrepency. thanks for your input, jeff

    Jeff,

To post picture you have to first reply then along the top there is a tab labeled "Options", hit the "Add/Update" button then search your computer for the pictures, you can only upload one per message this way, you might have to scroll to the right to see the "Save" button.  Then last hit the post button and you are done.

I hope this helps you out.

Very interesting... I actually now seem to recall a discussion somewhere in here just before I bought my 35's that there were two different ratings for a particular R series speaker - though I don't remember if they were 35's or not.  I might try to get Prof Thump to check out this thread, as they are his design - maybe he can clear it up for us.

BTW - nice ding on the corner :P heheh... be careful! :D hehehe
