    Best amplifier for KL-650THX speakers

    I'm setting up a new HT soon with three KL-650THX speakers up front. I'm currently powering my existing speakers with Tag Mclaren 5x100 multichannel amp. I feel this may not be ideal for the 650's and was wondering what people recommend. An audiophile friend recommends tubes and am inclined to try them. If I decide to try tubes what is a cost effective tube power amp that works well with the Ultra II's? Thanks

     No No No No NO to tubes for HT......

    You have a the HT speakers... get a good "Ultra 2 amp / pre amp"  or one that is really clean at + - 200 wpc at a minimum... 

    Sunfire, McIntosh..Etc.   The good stuff!

    HT: 2008 My Dream La Scala HT System for downstairs is finally 99% done. 7 Split La Scala's, (Timbre up front DOES matter!) Two Klipsch THX KW 120 subs, with the KA 1000 Amp, with the Velodyne SMS-1, Bass management system, with 2 THX series KS-525's as side surrounds. WOW! Dedicated 17' x 30' room, 106" Daylite screen, with the Infocus 7210 DLP Projector. Sunfire Theater Grand IV, Sunfire Signature series 200 x 7 amp. SONY 550 BluRay DVD player. It's Klipsch Nirvana, for me. The ticket booth is open, and the popcorn machine works, So dim the lights, on with the show!!
    **NEW** TSCM bass bins with pro split La Scala tops, just for outdoor fun!

    I'll have to go along with Roger on this one. I'm a tube fanatic but for HT use stick with SS. I've done the tube HT and it was as dead on HT as SS is for 2ch to me.

    Tubes for 2 channel and SS for HT is the way to go IMHO. Opinions will vary!!!

    I too would stick with SS HT amplification.  Ya might want to consider these.
