Ah, these have the highly prized 'Realistic tweeter' mod. Ick! oh well, that can be remedied

Here is a photo of decorators. There are others here who have some really nice looking decorators.

Welcome to the free Cornwall club! I have one pair I obtained free of charge, but my other pair I had to pay for............................They set me back $25. It pays to keep your eyes peeled, especially with spring upon us. Jeremy

There are pairs of decorator cornwalls in tigerwood and in rosewood. I think Tom M. has one pair. Does anyone have the photos? They are beautiful.

Hi gang, I'm back. I got a pair of tweeters, and now, I find one of the capacitors is indeed leaking, so I'm researching caps, I've read the various threads and reviews here, and, *** am I confused! :P

If anyone would like to chime in on what might be a decent replacement cap, in the $20 or less range, I'd be much obliged. I'm looking at the Jantzen 1.8uF 800V Z-Superior Capacitor ($12 range), but I'd definitely appreciate hearing others opinions about how this might affect the speaker's performance, or other caps that might perform better (Ideally, I'd like the replacement to come as close as possible to the original specs. I vaguely recall reading somewhere that the OEM caps were automotive tin/oil types, is that correct?)

Also, apparently the nimrod who put the Realistic brand tweeters in here, hooked them straight up to the input power line, and spliced a cheapy 3.3uf cap on the + terminal of the tweeter. Anyone have a good close-up photo of the type B crossover so I can see how this should be wired correctly? I hope that horrible hack job hasn't done further damage to anything.

    thanks :)

%0$ set of tweeters sounds like it should be all you......

Then you will understand what you have. I don't want to know what they were thinking when they put that tweeter there, Nice clip to hold to wire in place though...

You need to replace all of the caps. Clarity caps are very reasonable and quite good:

Make sure you knowwhich cornwall that you have. The inductors and transformers can most likely be reused.

Hmmm... it isn't chicken wire, it is called hardware cloth. Usually comes in around 1/4 inch squares, but can be had larger or smaller. Many people used this along with regular screen on the bottom half of their screen doors, so the finer wire mesh wouldn't get torn.

Those cabinets will need some work, but there are lots of options. The interior of the cabs looks good.

    Loud&Clear:
Whenever I buy or fiind by the side of the road(?) my Klipsche, I always open them and make sure there's not 25 lbs of contraband whatnot inside, especially when the owner vanishes from the trailer park (pronounced long prison sentence), and especially when the speakers lived through the seventies

I was given a pair of Altec Model 14's and when I went to open them up for xover upgrade, what did I find.....A film container filled with hashish, of course I ddin't know that is what it was, my neighbor told me...wink, wink. Needless to say had I been 20 years younger it may not have been thrown away. You just never know what you may find
