Nos Valves Stereo amp $1200 shipped

Not much response to the original ad prompted me to reprice. I need to sell this. Its also listed on Audiogon.

This is a great deal guys. I'll be suprised if it lasts very long on Agon.

I too am shocked that this has not yet sold - if I did not already own the VRDs , I would have definitely paid the initial asking price of $1500.

On your audiogon ad, you listed the specs of the monoblock VRDs - Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe Allen S. had the same amp and stated that its was 15 Watts per channel less than the monoblock VRDs ( MonoBlock-VRDs = 60 watts and the StereoVRDs =45 watts)

I may well be wrong about the specs. I guess its best to contact Craig to be sure. I never actually used the amp, therefore could never tell if the power rating seemed accurate.

I believe Allan's was modified by Craig to use a different output tube and that is the reason for the difference. I could be wrong but that's what I seem to recall. I know Allan loved that amp and was sad to see it go. At $1200, I'm very tempted since we're close to purchasing our beach house and I'll need some gear for my "man cave." This is a hard deal to pass on.

Yes, the mono blocks are rated at 60 wpc. The one I purchased from Allen uses 350B's with 5U4G rectifiers. With this tube compliment, it's rated at about 35 wpc. Using different tubes and/or different rectifiers will produce more/less watts. This stereo amplifier can accept a multitude of tubes just like the monoblocks. I have not touched Allen's 350B/5U4G tube compliment that came with this amp. While I am curious how other tubes might sound in this amplifier I am so happy with the results, I just can't bring myself to touch it. I use it with a Peach to drive RF-7's (4 ohm tap/ultra-linear) and I absolutely love it. And by the way, I paid quite a bit more than $1200.00 and it was worth every penny. $1200 is a steal.

    Great news.

Nine posts on the forum...all trying to sell the amp. I feel so used.
