Got a very nice Revox B77, but no reels, NAB hubs, etc. Anyone still have any of that stuff laying around from the "good ole' days" gathering dust? I have a line on new 1/4" tape that meets or exceeds Ampex 456 standard, but if anyone has any unopened GM 456, Maxell, TDK, etc, I'd be interested in that as well.

There's several good sources for tape, especially in "pancakes", but you need the reels to hold it. www.usrecordingmedia.com ; also, fortunately, BEC has the NAB hubs at a very reasonable price.  After I completely wore out my old Akai 635, I kep several reels, but sold the unit with the hubs. The Revox heads, motors, etc are in good shape, and there are plenty of B77 parts still around (unlike the Akai unit).

Marshall, let  me know how that tape works out.  I just spent a small fortune on 5 unopened Maxell UDXLII for my TD 20A.

Bob's are very probably ok as he stores his stuff very well. He's got one reel of 456 left, but you need to email him. For future purposes, the best place is US Recording Media. http://www.usrecordingmedia.com/rmsm1x25pain.html I had a good conversation with the tech rep and he advised the 911 instead of the 900 which is really for digital mastering (high output). The older reel to reel heads are not "hot" and the wide range 911 is more suited. I have the empty reels, so I just buy "pancakes". They also have some 10.5 plastic reels which do not require the NAB hub. I ordered a couple to see how they work; they were only $9.
