I really didn’t want to like Shelby Lynn’s new LP.  It’s basically a cover of Dusty Springfield ‘s “Dusty in Memphis” It’s not just good it’s great. A wonderful interpretation of the original - Great back-up band with sparse production.  Top notch. I bought the CD on a whim not even thinking that it would be available on Vinyl.  Low and behold it is on vinyl. Got the record today and its great.
Went to her website and found out that it was recorded on 2” tape the good old way. The proof is in the recording.

Amazingly inexpensive, too ($12.99 at Elusive Disc)!  This is for a 180 gram pressing!   Thanks for the heads up, Josh.

Lordy, try to keep cool today (it's 82 degrees here at 6 AM, extremely weird for here).

    Josh,

Just listen to a few tracks over at amazon. Sounds nice. Where did you source the LP?

Re: Wanted not to like this LP

    I bought mine at elusivedisk.com

It is a cover of Dusty Springfields "Dusty in Memphis" but is is significantly different. The arrangements are more minimalistic not the heavy syrupy strings that accompanied Dusty on her landmark LP.  And the recording is excellent. Sounds like they are in the room playing. Not that I didnt like the original, it is fact one of my favorite lps. I was just shocked at how good this was. I thought it was some new country pop star screwing with a classic. I was wrong.

Yep... I bought it a few weeks ago from elusivedisk when I ordered the latest Rickie Lee Jones. I've played it twice and like it a lot. Can't beat the price...

Thanks a lot guys.  Now I'll have to buy a copy.

However $12.99 seems a great deal for a 180 gram LP that's supposed to be the cat's meow.

I agree Josh, this album is awesome. The recording is superb.  I have purchased 2 of these LP's and they are both VERY NOISY on side 1 ?  I bought one at soundstage direct and another at Twist and Shout in Denver. I sent one back to SSD and I lost the recipt for the other.  Rosalie really likes the album too!!

    Cheers, Patrick
