jopnw: original Klipsch packing boxes together with the internal cushioning/packing materials
Wow... I didn't catch that.... and after 20 years??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My LaScala boxes (well, actually ALL of the speakers I've bought) were gone after about 20 minutes.
I'd say you're 3/4'ths the way to a successful shipping. I'd wonder if you could simply rebox them and then strap them to a pallat? (or pay someone to do as much)
You might even be able to simply ship them as is in that boxing?
Okay, could use some sage advice from you Klipsch experts on two points:
1) How do you think the speakers should be prepared for shipment in terms of packing--are the original boxes and packing material sufficient to send off as-is, or are additional measures warranted?
One note--a section of each of the top box flaps have been cut off (don't ask me how--it's a mystery to me), but the rest of the box is in good shape, including the bottom flaps and interior packing material). I figure that I can piece together the missing flap portions and then cover the entire top with another piece of corrugated cardboard for added strength and protection.
2) What shipment method would you recommend? FedEx Ground has been mentioned as a possible carrier.
Here's are some pictures of one of the boxes and the internal packing materials, one picture here, and 3 to follow.
Thanks for any advice you can offer, especially if you've had experience with shipping anything similar in size/weight!
