    A sale is pending.

If things fall through, they will become available. Where are you located?

    Thanks very much.

I live in West Seattle!  I am addicted to music and listen to everything under the sun.  Favorite being Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Rolling Stones, and Radiohead.  I have always wanted a really good speakers to play my 1000 or so CD collection and i hear these speakers are the best KLipsch make.  Let me know if things work out.

I don't pretend to infer this is the cost but I once had a single LaScala shipped to me.  It came Fedex ground.  It was VERY VERY VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY well packed and was also double boxed.  I think with the packaging job they did, it could have been dropped from the empire state building and survived!

Anyways...  the important thing is, it cost me $200 to cover the VERY good packaging and shipping of the single speaker.

Again, I don't pretend to suggest it would cost that much (or little) to ship jopnw's anywhere else, I'm just relaying my personal experience so someone might have a rough starting point.

West Seattle--wow! Definitely will keep you posted.

I really like the La Scalas--of course I'm biased--if only I didn't need to downsize...

    Thanks.

I appreciate your sharing this info. By any chance would you happen to know who did the packing--was it FedEx or someone else?

    Thanks!

original Klipsch packing boxes together with the internal cushioning/packing materials

Wow...  I didn't catch that....  and after 20 years??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My LaScala boxes (well, actually ALL of the speakers I've bought) were gone after about 20 minutes.

I'd say you're 3/4'ths the way to a successful shipping.  I'd wonder if you could simply rebox them and then strap them to a pallat?  (or pay someone to do as much)

You might even be able to simply ship them as is in that boxing?

Okay, could use some sage advice from you Klipsch experts on two points:

    1) How do you think the speakers should be prepared for shipment in terms of packing--are the original boxes and packing material sufficient to send off as-is, or are additional measures warranted?

One note--a section of each of the top box flaps have been cut off (don't ask me how--it's a mystery to me), but the rest of the box is in good shape, including the bottom flaps and interior packing material). I figure that I can piece together the missing flap portions and then cover the entire top with another piece of corrugated cardboard for added strength and protection.

    2) What shipment method would you recommend? FedEx Ground has been mentioned as a possible carrier.

Here's are some pictures of one of the boxes and the internal packing materials, one picture here, and 3 to follow.

Thanks for any advice you can offer, especially if you've had experience with shipping anything similar in size/weight!

This photo shows a portion of each of the top box flaps have been cut off (don't ask me how--it's a mystery to me--monster cardboard weevil at work, no doubt...just kidding), but the rest of the box is in good shape, including intact bottom flaps. I figure that I can piece together the missing flap portions and then cover the entire top with another piece of corrugated cardboard for added strength and protection.

There are 4 of these--one each goes on the top and bottom of the speakers. The Styrofoam is 2.3 cm thick; the corrugated cardboard adds another 4 mm in thickness. The flanges fold 6 inches along each side.

These are the vertical edge protectors (8 of these). Made of multi-ply cardboard approximately 7mm thick. Very firm and sturdy (they don't bend), molded to form a right angle curved corner.

Here's a 5th photo for trivia interest--the original Klipsch shipping label.

Documents its journey from the factory in Hope, Arkansas; to the Military Ocean Terminal Bay Area in Oakland, California; designated for delivery to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan.

    How's that for provenance???

Re: Seattle Klipsch La Scala Speakers

    Here's my 2 cents.

First...  since the buyer will ostensibly be paying for any packaging costs, I'd let them have a voice in it....if they want it triple boxed and silk lined, then so be it.  If on the other hand, they want them shipped in box as is, then they assume any risk from it not being double boxed.

You might be able to get Fedex to cart them around like mine was.  You might have better luck if you could box the speakers in their original boxes, then strap both boxes to a single pallat.  This way you can be fairly sure that they won't get TOSSED around by the shipping monkeys.  They might get speared by a fork truck perhaps...

You have enough pictures to prove their condition prior to shipping.  I'd LIKE to think that if you shipped them common carrier in their original containers, you'd have to have SOME grounds to claim they were properly packaged???

I don't know much about these services and large items so I may be way off base.  Just my idle thoughts as I wait for Santa to fly over...

You could really be a spy and those documents forged...

    Huh? Wink
