    DVD RW lifespan

    I use to rerecord over at least 30-40 on VHS tapes, probably more times than that. Are DVD RWs that are used for temporary recording of shows limited in the number of times used? It seems that way to me. Maybe my DVD RWs are too cheap.

    Anybody else experiencing this?

     I believe they can be used about 50 times recording. All DVD-rw and r + or  - are subject to about a 5 year lifespan. This is because they use a dye based chemical that degrades or oxidizes over time. Real dvd and cds are pressed which form a near lifetime expectancy. The dye should be stored in a dark dry place as sunlight affects it a lot.
