    La Scala pictures

I think it's clear that I'm clueless about posting these pictures.

    Re: La Scala pictures

You're about as clear with your pictures, as you are your intent... Wink

You trying to sell?  You have questions about them?

If selling...what's your asking price, where's your location?  What's their age?  (serial number will help there, so just post it)  Are the fronts of them ok or is there a reason you're showing off their hiney? Surprise  It is true that some speakers simply have better hineys...  but let's not go there Huh?

I've got 3 LaScalas, so I'm not in the market, just trying to nudge you into giving more information out, that will possibly serve to help your end goal.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!!  Stick around.  If those are your speakers, then you understand what kind of nut everyone else around here might be!!

    Yes

    Re: La Scala pictures

Sorry for not being clear with these photos. I did create a post in the "Technical" section, and someone suggested that I post pictures over here. So I did...or tried to...lol. I hope I have fixed them a little better this time.....

The reason I'm posting these here is because my husband had these speakers and used them in a karaoke business that he was doing. He died in 2007 and I'm finally getting these out and up for sale.   I talked to a terrific guy at Klipsch and he said this would be the best place to get help in figuring how much to sell them for, and maybe someone would be interested in buying them.

The speakers were both covered in felt but it was hammered, so I removed it.  They look a little ragged, but they sound awesome.

I hope this info helps...thanks for your post :)

    Re: La Scala pictures

I don't know about the price. I have no idea what to ask for these. That's why I've posted them here is so I could get help determining how much I may be able to ask for them based on year, model, condition, etc. I'm thinking about either putting new felt over them or finding out how I can fix up the outsides a bit. They sound awesome.  I live in Oregon. Hope this helps.

I've got a couple of meandering thoughts...

    1.  I would probalby sell them as is if I were you.  In my opinion, you won't significantly increase their value and you might be in for a lot of work....only to have the potential buyer rip it right back off.

    2.  Shipping these can be an issue.  I had one shipped to me.  (a single speaker).  It was double boxed and VERY VERY well packed.  It cost me $200 for the packing and shipping expense for the single speaker.

    3.  If you can turn them around and look on the ...how to describe this...  there is a cutout where you can see inside the back.  On the TOP of that opening is a serial number that should be embossed into the edge of the wood...what is that serial number?

Now...  by the "top" of the opening, I don't mean for you to look up...  by 'top' I mean it's on top of the piece that goes from the floor to the bottom part of that opening.  So, it's on the bottom of the opening which is the top side of that piece of wood....get  it?  got it?  good!  Wink

The serial number will tell people here when they were made.  You might also look at the crossover (the board of wires in the back) and see if you can find on its corner something like "A, AA, AKL" or something like that.  On my old pair, I think the type is in either red or black.

Beyond that, most her already know what they are and how they might sound.  If no one here is interested, you might also look at putting them on www.audiogon.com

right now, that's most of the meandering I can think of.  Someone else will probably chime in

Oh, not that I'm trying to pry...but what city are you in?  Ultimately, that might make a difference to someone who's willing to drive 2 hours but not 10 hours.

After copying the photo and trying to enhance it (ya did not give us much to work with, a better quality photo would be of more help.) They look to be possible a Vintage late 70's early 80’s model,  (Pre K55M squawker and the tweeter looks to be a K77M.  The Squawker horn looks to be a metal K400, but hard to tell if it is ribbed/stepped like the composite K401)  So if the cabinets are dinged some and my configuration guess is correct… I’d guess, and this is only a guess, you are looking at about $750 - $1000 tops for the pair.

    Re: La Scala pictures

Thank you for sharing your "meandering thoughts". You've brought up some very good points.  I appreciate the link you posted, and I will definitely take a look at it.  I came in here mainly for advice on what to ask for these speakers, but I must admit, I did kind of hope that I would get an offer. I was told by Klipsch support that this is the serial number... 13R667.

Thanks again, and if you have any other questions, please let me know. I don't get in here as often as I'd like, so if it takes a few days for me to respond, please don't think I'm ignoring you.

    Re: La Scala pictures

Thank you very much for the info. I know the pictures are not very good. I tried the best I could to make them clearer, but, my picture editing software leaves a lot to be desired. I wll be more than happy to take pictures again, but I don't know if the outcome is giong to be any better. Is there anything in particular that you'd like me to zoom in on, if I can?

Before I posted the speakers on here, I called Klipsch support and was told that they were made in 1977.  Here are some numbers that I copied from the back that I gave Klipsch support. Serial number: 13R667.  Two other numbers,  71286K55V, and 46240137 Klipsch K77M. I was told these are the type of speakers.

As you can probably tell, I am not savvy about these speakers at all.  I thought after I showed that I'm a "blonde", people would understand..lol.

    La Scala's for sale

Be a good idea to post them in a thread with this title in the for sale section.  Good luck with the sale.
