    Synergy with Reference?

Hi, I'm a long time viewer first time poster. I've had the synergy quintet iii's, c-2, and sub-10 for some time and decided to upgrade the fronts to the rf-82's and move the quintets back. The rf-82's sound great and I'm happy with my purchase, but would this set up be okay for some time? As expected, I've found the sub-10 to be a bit underpowered to the rf-82's but with some increase in gain, I think it could manage. The main thing is that I find the c-2 to be so much more limited as compared to the reference centers I've heard. I believe the center will be my next priority upgrade. I think the quintets do a good enough job to just be the rear and surrounds. Oh, and btw, this is all being powered by the HK avr-354.

I am a college student and so I am a bit limited on budget. Thus, I will be able to afford the upgrade sometime down this year.

Also, out of curiosity would two sub-10's be better than a single sub-12? I ask this because I think i could get another sub-10 for much cheaper combined with my current sub-10 purchase than buying a sub-12. Or would you guys recommend just buying a HSU or SVS? I have a small room so I don't need too much bass, but with time... I will be hungry for more.

Also, I bought the rf-82's used for a pretty good price, but they came to me missing their feet... Does anyone know where I could buy some? =D Thanks!

    RF-83 [fronts]
    RC-64 [center]
    RF-82 [surrounds]
Quintet III x2 [rears] <--- (too cheap to upgrade *shrugs*) =P
Sub-10 [subwoofer] <--- in needs of upgrade
    H/K AVR-354 [receiver]
    PS3 (60GB) [blu-ray and games]

    Re: Synergy with Reference?

First off, welcome to the forum!  One of the most importatnt things in HT is that your front sound stage be timbre matched.  Meaning.......... well in a nutshell, the same speakers.  So the first thing you'll want to do is get the matching center for the 82's.  Surrounds aren't quite as important, but eventually you'll want to upgrade those as well.  A decent HT is kind of like building a 10 second race car.  It doesn't happen over night.  A lot of us here have been building our systems for years.  About the subs. I personally, and this is just me, would want one sub 12 instead of two sub 10's.  I absolutely love this sub, and seeing that the RW10 is far superior to the sub 10, and the sub 12 kicks my RW10's ***; I say get the sub 12.  As far as the feet for your 82's; I can't help you............

    5.2 System:
    Hitachi 52" HDTV (Non HDMI)
    Pioneer VSX-2016AVs (surrounds & subs)
    ROTEL RB-956AX (left, center, right)
    Sony BDP-S350 Blu Ray player
    Monster Power HTS1600MKII powercenter
    F2 mains
    C2 center
    S1 surrounds
    RW 10
    Sub 12
    Logitech Harmony 550 remote

It's sort of like Synergy on steroids!!!
