Centre Channel Speaker match for Forte

Hi new to this forum and have been looking to match a centre channel speaker.

I have some old and some new equipment and want to use what I can from my existing setup as much as possible.

I understand the best match is an Academy to flesh out my HT system, I have a pair of Forte I's (8752071/2072) which I plan to be L/R.

I just bought some Klipsch ceiling CDT5650C for my rears as I don't have the wall space at the back of my AV Room.

My plan is to hook up a PJ and add a sub to round out the system.

    Some questions I have:

Should I change the crossovers on my Forte's?

If I can't get an Academy what is the next best choice?  Are there any good new centre channel speakers that match?  (RC52 or RC62)?

Can you change the grillcloth on the Forte's (currently Black cloth#19)

    Any comments welcome.

Your best center would be another forte.

If yours are forte (not forte II) then your next best choice would be an academy.

If you really have forte II's then

    I might look for a KLF C-7

I don't think that any of the RF (RC-x) line would make for a good center for any forte...

You can change grill cloth, GroomLake/Area51 is our resident expert on such things.

All just my opinion, others should chime in to correct my errors...

Thaks for the reply Noah, I'll ask about the grill cloth.

I definitely have original Forte's, bought in Germany in 1987 (WO8752071 and 8752072)

Looks like the Academy is the way to go

I just added an Heresy center between my Forte II and am quite happy. This should be a temporary marriage as my system is kind of in a ever changing situation with a big change on the near horizon I hope (fingers crossed).

I realize there is timbre matching and the benefits but sometimes you just may be suprised at the end results especially if you have your system well balanced.

With a little more ear time I will let you all know more about my findings.

Did you end up selling your Academy to Iron Dan?

You replied to him first so understandably he was first in line.

Let me know if you don't, I can definitely drive down to Lake George.

I never got a reply on craiglist, it was in Florida so not close.
