Original Heresy WD-BR in great condition for pick-up in Minneapolis

    Hi All,

About a month ago, I bought a pair of Klipsch Heresys from one of my parents' neighbors who was the original owner. I tried to set them up in my rather small listening room. I experimented with different placements finally deciding they sounded the best in the corners. However, the way the horns throw an image the sweet spot is over in the next room.

Under pressure from the lady of the house, I am forced to confine my hi-fi to the designated small room. My 2-way w/ rear firing bass ports bookshelfs seem like a better match for the space. I would love to keep them around just incase we decide to re-arrange or move, but I could use the cash more.

They are the Birch Raw verison that the previous owner stained with tung oil. I'd say the cabinets are about 8.5/10 with a couple very minor nicks. The drivers are all original and MINT!

Any Twin Citties (or close) Klipschophiles wanna come take 'em?

    $500 or best offer

I could only figure out how to add one photo, but I have more if you are interested.

    Thanks, Patrick

What you have are Heresy Decorator - Birch Raw that were stained...and had grills made for them (Decorators usually don't have them)...the P in the serial number should make them 1976 vintage...good luck with your sale...

whoever finished them took away the 'decorator' look by painting the motor board and adding the trim.

btw, 5 MB photos take a while to download, please downsize in the future. thanks

but they did a great job ....decorators were plain and left up to the consumer to finish....these obviously have been.

I agree SF, it's a very nice job, but in today's marketplace they'd probably have higher value if left plain without the trim and black face. The asking price sound fair though, hopefully somebody nearby will pick these up and not subject them to the rigors of UPS.

I thought I had read on the board that depending on the year, the decorators had trim and grills dropped in at the factory.  Wouldn't those then have had painted motorboards?  This being a transitional style with the decorators until the the change to make all Heresies with the grills, decorators or not.

I have a set of 76 HD-BR that have the trim, grills with the laser line tags and painted motorboard.  They had been painted black and I am getting ready to refinish them.  The interior has the typical slight overspray of the factory painted motorboards too.

good point, I'll try to discover when the Decorators had trim kits available, could take some digging.

Here's a 1974 price list that shows Decorator model without trim or grill. The text above clearly states that Decorator model comes without grille.

Of course it could have been special order or a trim kit that was available later I suppose. Heck, anything is possible in that erea.
