    Fastrac Lascala Midrange horns $325

I have material cut and ready to build a few sets of the drop in K-400 replacement horns. I am currently running these with ALK universal crossover , and they sound excellent. Stock AA crossovers can easily be modified to accomodate this horns 500Hz reccomended crossover frequency, however 500Hz ALK ES networks will likely render the best results..

Price is for 2 horns, and mounting hardware. For a short time I will be including the K-55 adapters at no addl charge til my supply runs out.

K-55 adapter also available, and I am working on an adapter for the JBL 3 bolt drivers.

Simple installation, requires removal of crossover and K-400 midhorn, transfer the K-400 mounting support to the Fastrac, and thread on the driver. Replacement screws included.

Don't lose your jigs...  I'm not on good terms right now with Mr. Budget and Mr. Taxman...  but I've already got 3 LaScalas and 3 ES500's so down the road, would have an interest in trying three horns.

Not really, the motor board on the Belle Klipsch would have to be modified (larger cut out) these have the same mouth area as a K400 and the Belle Klipsch uses a notably smaller K500 horn.  Typically from what I have seen if you want to replace an exponential horn with a Tractix horn of the same or similar Fc, the mouth area is always bigger on the tractix.  In its intended use the user would be replacing a 400 HZ horn with a roughly 500 HZ horn.

You could set the fastrac horn on top of your Belle Klipsch or call Al K and get his 400 HZ Trachorn replacement where he actually gives you a new motor board with the kit.

Also there woud be no real need to have the 4500 HZ mod to the xover as the horn should provide acceptable performance to 6KHZ'ish.  Although if you have the network mod I would not reverse it.

The horns response would be perfect, hovever the belle HF motor board would need to be modified to accomodate the larger horn.

I've been itching to acomplish SOMETHING in my listening/theater room (largely as an emotional escape from workWink )

Do I interpret the posts correctly, that this horn will extend the top of the mid at the expense of a little bottom? What mods are required for AA crossovers?

Not exactly, this horn is very natural sounding, not colored and has a smooth response. I installed them in a Lascala with an ALK universal crossover which has a lf crossover point at 400Hz. In my opinion it sounds great, even though the 400Hz crossover point is near the Horns 384Hz Fc. I suspect raising the crossover point to 500Hz will overall better the outcome. I will need some more experianced crossover builder to verify my numbers but I believe the Inductor would need to be change to a 1.27 mH and the mid cap to a 10.6uF.

I have not run these with an AA crossover as of yet, but suspect the results to be similar.

Both the driver and lens are all responsible for dictating the frequency response. The bandpass crossover simply limits it's extension.
