Buddy Guy playing RiverFest in Little Rock. Should be fun. Last time I went it was to see George Clinton.

If you're not familiar with 3 doors down give them a shot also.

The concert was unbelievable. We got there an hour before the first act and stood 20 feet from the stage for 4 hours- paying for that now. The show was totally different from Atlanta. The high point was a medley mimiking several other old bluesmen and working into a 60s vesion of Clapton's Strange brew trancending into a Jimmy Hendrixesque version of a few licks of Voodo Child finishing up with  Cream's sunshine of your love- played hendrix style with his teeth and behind the back- to absoulte perfection. Then a loud funky version of Mustang Sally that really brought the house down. packed hall- great acoustics-LOUD- beer was cold-crowd was definitely into it. Well worth the plane ride.

Not to mention the other acts at  the  Montreal jazz fest. I had to leave early and miss Jeff Beck- &**&!!!- and several other acts that I would really have liked to see. Lots of fun.

Looks like your best chance is some calif, iowa, and colorado dates .. One act everybody needs to see at least once- twice in 8 days for me. I would go again tomorrow.

    Re: Buddy Guy in Montreal

And to think that Buddy Guy often played Toronto back in the '70s, usually with Junior Wells, and I never even thought to go, although I lived there at the time...

Back then, the shows I'd see repeatedly would be Joe Walsh (w/ or w/out James Gang), The Tubes, DEVO, Alice Cooper, Edgar Winter, Frank Zappa and the Mothers, Rough Trade, Bruce Cockburn.  Can't do everything...

I was late to the game myself. Always liked the blues but never payed that much attention to Buddy. My older son shared a house with several musicians during one year of college and brought home a bunch of CDs by Buddy Guy, Jonny lang, Albert king, and others. I was already listening to Stevie Ray and Kenny Wayne Sheppard. My boss was also a big Buddy fan who aranged this little"business trip" to the Jazz fest. Air Canada is my biggest account in any case. Now about everybody in the officeis listening to his music and is going to his concerts.

To me this is strange music for college age musicians to be enjoying.

Buddy made mention of his friend Junior Wells at the Atlanta show. I gotta get some of his stuff next.

Going to two nights of George Thorogood and Johnny Lang in New Hampshire in August.  We have been to Thorogood every year for the past 8-9 at Hampton Beach.  We enjoyed Buddy and George there last year.

Junior Wells is awesome.  Check out the live album of him playing at Buddy Guy's place in Chicago.
