New to the Forum...Horns for sale...

Hello all... My name is Brad and I am unfortunately looking to sell some retro horns.  Cabinets in fair condition.  Speakers still sound fantastic.  I am located Sacramento, but would be willing to deliver in the Bay Area or Northern California for cost of gas.  I have a posting on craigslist with pictures.  http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ele/1238319074.html.  They could use a little dusting.  Let me know what you all think.  Hoping they find nice, new klipsch-a-holic home.  $2000 a fair price?

Since you asked, I think the price is a little high for the condition.  Just my opinion mind you.

Thank you for your input.  Perhaps I will grab some wood oil and clean them up a bit...

Yep...Shine those puppies up! Keep in mind that the used market is depressed right now and items are harder to move....

1-2 years ago they would have moved at around that price, but I've seen pristine khorns go for $1600-$1800 lately , that would have gone for $2500-$2800 last year.... kind of a shame...things should pick up eventually...

Good luck with your sale, you should find someone local who has to have them!

Thanks fenderbender.  Got them to a proper shine.  Will repost pics as soon as camera battery charges.  Hope to see some action close to this price to get next semester paid for.  Thanks for your post...

Re: New to the Forum...Horns for sale...

Those were built in 1978, and they came from the factory with Birch veneer, in the "C" style cabinet (meaning they don't have the extra riser and plate between the top horn section and the bass section), and they had no finish on them.  So whoever bought these, probably put the stain on that's on them now.

None of this is meant as a slam on your speakers, just passing on information that might help you understand the marketability of your speakers.  These were close to the bottom of the line for Khorn cabinets and finish.  People bought Khorns this way to save money, but still get the great sound of a Khorn.  But the intitial savings do follow through to the resale later on.

Cleaned up speakers and good pictures will go a long way to getting the best price for them.

Have you tested them and know that all the drivers work?  That is helpful information to a prospective buyer.

    Good luck with your sale.

yessss!  otherwise, it looks like you don't care for them...and if you don't why should a potiential buyer.

they'll look like new with an hour of work.

good luck with your sale ( i think your price is more than fair)

The going price would be right at 1600-1700 for yours. You might get 1800 given your location if you are willing to hold out for top dollar. Obviously k horns are worth more than they are bringing. You could always hook them up and listen until the prices recover??? Might be fun.
