    K-horns

Ok guys, just got a pair of 1986 K-Horns for a redicules price. They sound amazing but are a bit of an eye sore and want to redo them. I have a Klipsch 12 inch powered sub and I really like the finish and want that finish for the K-Horns but I cannot find it any where on the net. It's not wood but more like a laminate veneer. I plan to  get a vacuum set up to do the horns with since it is my first time. If anyone out there has a web sight for me that would be great.

I'll be no help on the stain, but I've always wondered if the fumes of volatile stain would attack any part of the speakers or networks?  Is it advisable to carefully take the midrange, tweeter and networks out and store them elsewhere, while blocking off the pathways to the woofer while re--staining?   Just a thought from OCD land.

Veneer is a single piece of varying thickness of a wood "species" that is cut from a sheet or a roll (dependent on the type) to a certain thickness. These sheets are then glued together to make larger sheets.

Veneer is applied to the cabinet using veneer glue. The glues come in many different varieties.

Some "veneer" is not veneer, but a wood grained in appearance vinyl with an adhesive backing.

    www.joewoodworker.com for veneer.

Always remove the drivers and crossovers before refinishing, staining and veneer. Regardless of any volatility, it's easier to work with wood when nothing else is in the way.....

Are you aware of veneer "bookmatching"?  Klipsch veneers are normally bookmatched so that the grain on the left is a close mirror image of that on the right.  I am no expert in such things, but wanted to be sure you're aware of it.  See http://www.tabledesigns.com/Portfolio.Wood_Inlay.Bookmatch_Veneer
