    Sub fuse and general questions

    Hello!

This is my first post within this community and I would like to thank you all for the opportunity.  I have read through most of the forum and decided it was time for me to join!

I recently purchased a PM 2.1 set that has been used...however it was hardly used.  The seller claims that whenever the system powers on, the main fuse in the back of the sub will blow out.  He has purchased different fuses and there is still no success.  I tested them out and the speakers sound great...but he is correct about no sound coming through the sub.  I am wondering what possible reasons could lead to the fuse blowing out and the sub not making any noise...yet the satellites working flawlessly.

I would really appreciate any comments, thanks for your time!

    Hello, and welcome!

If you're using the correct replacement fuse (2 amps, 250 volt slow blow, Radio Shack part number-270-1064) and it still keeps blowing, it is an indication there is something else wrong with the system.  The fuse is acting as a safety mechanism to prevent further damage.  Please contact our support at 888-554-5665 for more help.

    Thanks!

Re: Sub fuse and general questions

HI, I have the 12 that I had bought new, hadn't actually used the home theater for a month or more, went o use it and found there was no little blue light indicating power to the unit.  Checked the power from the outlet was fine.  The fus elooked ok, but I went ahead to Radio Shack and bought the slow blow fuse someone recommeded here.  Still no power.  I purchased the unit in June 2006 and have used it minimally.  Any suggestions? Thx, FH, Katy, TX

there could be a short inside of your control pod's DIN plug. if stress was put on the plug at any time it could be causing some internal contact to touch and in turn will short the system out or the control pod itself may even be bad, I would replace the control pod or have the DIN plug replaced. I do offer sollutions to both options if you would like to contact me.

Re: Sub fuse and general questions

HI, I posted on the forum site a couple of weeks ago and you mentioned you have possible solutions?  I called Klipsch and they referred me out to another company for repair.  Seems my speaker was about 2+ months out of warranty and they didn't appear willing to assist at all.  That is a shame, I had heard they stand behind their stuff.  The company they referred me to wanted me to ship the subwoofer to them.  Based on their estimnated costs, by the time I added shipping it and quoted repair, it might be almost cheaper to replace it with something else, perhaps a different manufacturer who just might be willing to stand behind their stuff a little better....Thanks, Frank H, Katy, TX

well, the cheapest option for you would be to send the control pod to me for testing, if the din plug is bad I can replace it for you for $17, if it is good then I will send it back and all you will have to pay then is $10. $5 for testing, and $5 for shipping. the $17 replacement option has shipping already included. those are the options i have for you, and if after that the system does not work the we know it is an internal amplifier problem. a bit harded to figure out.
