Pilgrimage 2010 is a go in Indianapolis! Let's start getting an idea of who can come and when it should be. June seems like a nice month for it, but I'm open to suggestions.

I know a lot of you were hoping for Hope, but maybe next time.

Hello, all from beautiful Allen Park, MIchigan. You're probably wondering why I didn't say, "Indianapolis, Indiana", right? I’m sorry this is so late in getting started but I’ve been having a lot issues with getting a good internet connection for some reason this week so I had to wait until I returned home to Michigan to begin this thread. I couldn't even change my avatar as soon as the Red Wings lost the finals (as I normally do) on Friday. So, here' goes:

Verna and I began our trek down to Indy from Detroit on Wednesday afternoon and arrived at IndyKlipschFan’s (Roger) place around 6 pm. Arriving at Roger’s is always a real treat because he usually pulls out some surprise for you not long after you arrive. This time, it was a driveway concert. He rolled-out a pair of Klipsch TSCM’s which are actually Klipschorns with wings and a pair of Industrial LaScala tops crowning each TSCM. They sounded superb in the front yard even driven with an old Yamaha, Natural Sound R500 stereo receiver that Roger found at the Goodwill Store for $5 bucks. The receiver’s volume control was only set to “2”, yet the sound in the front yard made it feel as if you were indoors in a listening environment. We were both amazed.

Not long after that, I phoned Michael Colter just to check in with him and then I spoke with Customsteve01, who was still inbound on his Harley from Virginia. He arrived at Colter’s place around 10:30 that night. Verna and I watched ‘A Quantum of Solace’ in Roger’s HT that evening. The opening car chase scene was awesome! There are some very subtle differences between our theater and Roger’s sound and one must pay close attention to what is being heard to in order to notice the minute details that can reveal themselves. His theater sure does sound great! To be continued....

Were going to have a un- official summer get together in Indianapolis, Indiana.

So...

Who? YOU, and anyone else with a passion for things Klipsch audio wise. So drive, fly, whatever, just get to Indy.

What? A get together we will call for now "IndyFest 2009" celebration!

Where? Indianapolis, Indiana

When? June 12-14 2009

Why? We (Michael aka Colterphoto1 and Roger aka IndyKlipschFan) think a annual get together is a great idea. Especially in bad times. It allows us to share ideas, set ups, and learn from each other. We will demo "All things Heritage" from the smallest to the biggest, and a LOT of the Pro Gear including a full MCM system and the mighty Jubilees too. All in one weekend.. You can get your ears full of that classic Klipsch sound, learn about drivers and x overs and how to keep your Klipsch speakers running for life!

You can also bring your own gear to Michael's to trade/ demo, if you like as well.

June 12th, 2009 - Friday Get Together

Friday night 6 PM on will be a get together at Roger - IndyKlipschFan's house. Hopefully, a beautiful night with some inside and outside music.

We will take a collection for Pizza for everyone around 7 PM and have some drinks. If you want something stronger your on your own. We have a grill for those that want to grill out as well. I have 3 - 4 systems to demo including a nice Home Theater for those to "experience." This is just a great way to start the weekend, relax, and welcome everyone to the madness of Klipsch. Pure social fun with no real agenda except to enjoy everyones company too.

Meet at the House of Klipsch and the new "work shop" called Roadies at Colterphoto1's! Were all part of the Klipsch Live concert day at a park, close to Michaels! So be a roadie, or hang out. It will be fun to hear younger kids try to prove themselves, and hear it all on the BIG BOY Klipsch MCM system too!

This is Michaels dream, let's have a good time with him!

7:00 PM on.......

Help load up, a quick dinner then back to Colterphoto1's house..

The mighty Klipsch MCM's. the 600 series, and even more listening and just playing around.

We will squeeze in as much as we can with smallest to biggest. if you have Demo equipment, or for sale items bring them here... We will still have good time and hang out to music and mayhem!

At night we will have a campfire. So bring the smores, or whatvever drinks you need and come hang out and just relax.. The music should be good, and after a full day just hang out and have fun.

Sunday June 14th - Michael is open to do more listening testing and educating at his house... If you have a special request this is a good time to try it out or get attention too. More demos and more relaxed... we can go with the flow here.. a lazy day.... We realize some will go home early Sunday, some might stay till Sunday night ? Michael said he is flexible here.

This is a good start to the weekend. I will edit more as it becomes more clear and also what some of you may want to see n hear too. I will update this post as we get more of a real feel how many will be coming etc.,later.

Why are we doing this..???? Klipsch has decided to not do a summer Klipsch Pilgrimage in Indy or Hope or anywhere for that matter. We understand with the economy and various factors in their decision to do so. We all wish them well, and continued success. Many of you on here have a desire and a passion for their products and a willingness to help each other grow in their own audio journeys too, in all things Klipsch speaker wise. We want to encourage that too.

AT THIS TIME, PLEASE HELP US AND TELL US IF YOUR GOING TO COME. I WILL ADD YOUR NAME TO THIS THREAD, SO WE HAVE A HEAD COUNT. EVERYONE OFF OF THE BOARD AND ANYONE FROM KLIPSCH IS WELCOME. WE MUST HAVE A HEAD COUNT BY MAY 31ST 2009, TO PLAN FOR ALL OF YOU.

If it is a small group, or big one, everyone is welcome!

We will send out maps and contact numbers later to those coming by email. I will also work on some hotel info close to both of us as well.

IndyFest 2009 TAMF2009 - Roadie Gear

I've never been, or pretended to be, a roadie before.

What is the minimal proper gear or a better question, what should we bring if we have it?

I'm bringing along whatever coolers I can scrounge up for food. And maybe a water cooler or two. Other than that my bubba keg mug (52 ounce insulated mug) for water.

The black Klipsch tee shirt has been established. Michael is preparing some backstage pass type of IDs.

Any other recommendations?

Swimsuit has been suggested for using the pool at the park ...

I'm thinking at least sneakers no matter how much the day may scream sandals. Or at least sneakers while moving equipment though hard to run down anyone trying to make off with any of Micchael's equipment...

Suggestions?

IndyFest- about food

With people coming and going at all hours next week, we'll probably be pretty much on our own for meals, depending on the group and accomodations. But I thought the least I could do would be to arrange a meal and plenty of drinks for you guys the day of the show. There's several routes we could go, each with positives and negatives.

Buy picnic food, commandeer one of the charcoal grilles at the park and cook our own. This encourages comraderie

Knights of Columbus will be serving stuff there. I don't know what, probably not as good as we could do and more spendy.

Pizza joints and fast food are all around the area, but just doesn't sound good to me on a hot day.

I'll have a 5 gallon water cooler on site, a small cooler for the 2nd stage, and Coleman for main stage. Can another of you guys bring a cooler so we have something for us backstage as well? Ok a couple- we'll need drinks at sound tent, drinks back stage, and one for food items.

A gentle reminder that the city park is a drug and booze free zone, but I don't care what you pour into your coke. What am I the AA police? LOL

Then we'll be pretty tired when we get back to my place, maybe Some Guys pizza for evening?

Train travel to Hope

Ok I am thinking out loud here...

What if ...we could get a good price on a train ticket to Texarkana, AR from Indy?

We meet up on March 5th EARLY (leave 6:30am) and travel together to Hope on a train.

We would get there at 6am Friday. Right now round trip - Coach is about $250 each (air fair to Little Rock is about $350)

The question is How many of you would be in for the ride?

Indy may not be the only place to board the train.

I've been hanging some Klipsch paraphanelia in my new workshop and came across the oval Klispch logo plaque made of Heritage 7 ply wood.

Mine is still raw birch, unfinshed. I feel like I need to do something with it.

Third channel demonstration

At the 2008 Pilgrimage there was a demonstration of the electrical mono third channel using digital delay via DX38 unit. Was there any handouts or does anyone have any notes regarding that process?

A Forum member has contacted me regarding such a setup and I'm trying to find notes. I have the DFH already on the traditional 3rd mono channel.

We had a good meeting about the event yesterday (before the bad news), and interesting ideas were tossed around, but some needed more time to develop...which now we have.

Stay tuned for bigger and better (and brighter) things to come!

Meeting Paul Klipsch

This may not be the appropriate place to post this but I thought some of you might find it interesting.

I graduated from college with a music degree and did my student teaching at Hope, Arkansas, since it was only a 30 minute drive from the college. The person I was interned to was a good personal friend of Paul Klipsch.

I had listened to a pair of Klipschorns several years earlier and was awed by them, however I didn't really learn to appreciate them until my Hope, AR tenure. The older teacher and myself would go out to the Klipsch factory at least once a week and listen to the Klipschorns. I was always amazed at the amount of detail that could be heard from the vinyl recordings (thats all there was at the time) that I had not ever heard after repeated listenings. At that time the group Blood, Sweat, and Tears had come out with their 2nd album. Cymbal decay and background voices could be heard that were not audible on everyday devices.

At that time the "listening room" was the living room of an old house that set on the property close to the original factory (not the one that is there now). On several occasions Mr. Paul Klipsch would see our vehicle and come out to chat.

That was many years ago and a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. I wish I could remember some of the things that he talked about but unfortunately I can't. I do remember that he had a great sense of humor and never seemed to talk down to us even though we asked some fairly ignorant questions.

Since that time I have always wanted a pair of Klipschorns but could never afford them or justify having them. However recently I came across a pair of 1974 Khorns on Ebay at a price that I couldn't believe. I am currently in the process of refinishing them.

By coincidence, for the past 24 years I am again living 30 minutes away from Hope, AR, only in the opposite direction from before. I pass by the factory on occasion but it just isn't the same anymore. A current friend of mine, who at one time was on the board of directors at Klipsch, had a brand new set of Khorns installed in a room acoustically designed by the Klipsch engineers (more money that I have) and they sounded tremendous. I hope mine sound as good when I get them correctly mounted.

I do not know what has been charged to guests for these in the past, but I suspect there are enough of us wanting to visit Hope who can pay enough to offset most costs to the company, which I assume to be suffering a bit of cash flow issues.

Is anything being contemplated? I am more than a little disappointed about this.

I am a very new member of this community.... I just bought a very nice 54" Plasma TV and my contractor is coming up with some plans to build a room for me. However as we all know TVs don't come with great speaker systems. The room is little shy of 600sq/ft. You guys all sound like you know your systems. Can you help me with this project? I am also checking out Bose Systems as well, but I know Klipsch builds fantastic systems.

Let me start from unboxing,these arrived via fedex and let me say that the packaging is very well done.After opening up the thick boxes I was greeted to a very secure speaker enclosed in it's own white cotton bag and containing a pair of cotton gloves (nice touch).The fit and finish on these are second to none the wood is gorgeous and the five way binding posts are huge,very nicely done. Now after I slid my beloved RF-7's over I placed the PALLADIUMS on 24 inch stands and pluged them in using bannana plugs to my Sunfire 425x5 amp. Putting in Russell Watson I sat back and began turning up the volume,what happened next I was not expecting the PALLADIUMS filled the room with the most encredible sound and smoothest midrange I have ever heard the soundstage was huge and the bass was not what I was ready for,the high frequency detail was not as forward as the RF-7's (I don't know many that are).After listening to various music from Nora Jones to Pink Floyd I am convinced that for 2 channel listening the PALLADIUMS have few peers however for movie whatching I found the didn't have near the impact of the RF-7's (nor did I expect them to).I also found that setting the crossover point at 100hrz gave me the best sound with my earthquake subs bringing up the low end.With all that being said I am so impressed with these speakers I will be using them for seperate two channel listening only, they are truly the smoothest most lifelike speakers I have ever heard and truly are worth the money. Thank you Klipsch for the opportunity to expand my listening pleasure.
