WTB Klipsch DD-5.1 Decoder

Does anyone have a Klipsch DD-5.1 decoder they're willing to part with or know where one can be found? I've exhausted Google & Bing as well as eBay with no luck (did at least see others who were able to find these 2nd hand, so I'm encouraged) Thanks!

Display not working on DD5.1

Maybe someone can help me, as I have contacted the Canadian repair centre regarding this issue and they haven't replied to my emails. The display quit working on my DD5.1... it's an issue with the LCD because the green backlight still works, just nothing on the screen. This is very annoying as it was very expensive to buy and only a few years old. Should I open it and attempt to find a faulty connection? Is this a known issue with the DD5.1? Can anyone help me?!?!

i need something like the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 or Klipsch DD-5.1 decoder....both of these products are discontinued but I need to find something similar in the market. i wanna hook up my tv/cable box via optical audio out to my pc speakers and i want it to decode dolby digital. I basically want the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 but can't find one so i need something similar

I have two CS-800-R In-Ceiling speakers. The painters lost the grills and I am trying to find replacements.

Does anyone know if I can buy these from Klipsch? The CS-800-R's are apparently a discontinuted product.

SWS humming noise when touching power or control pod cable

I was wondering if any SWS owners are having this issue? If you touch the power chord it makes the sub thump or humm. If you touch the volume cable it will have the same effect. I tried plugging it into different outlets and originally it was used on my parents home theater setup. Even down there if you stepped on the cable or got anywhere near the cables it would humm.

Sort of hoping someoene else has seen this and found a cure. The cable is only 2 prong and has no ground so I don't know another way to ground it.

hello, im new to this forum so if i violate any rules, please accept my apologies in advance.

i am in search of computer speaker wire for my klipsch 4.1 computer speaker system. i seem to have lost one during my move.

one end plugs into a speaker and the other end wires go into the positive and negative of the subwoofer. if someone can help me with this i would greatly appreciate it. i don't mind if it is used. please let me know where i can find it or if anyone has an extra.

Product description page isn't really clear as to whether or not these brackets have adjustments to angle the speaker up or down. I know it has a 160- degree adjustment angle horizontally, but what about vertical.

This sub is just as impressibe as anyone would want it to be. It even improved the ultras more noticeable then I expected. My jaw dropped.. The 8 inch driver gives it low frequencies much like the ultras. It’s like adding another ultra sub, just not quite as powerful. I can’t even tell you how loud it got, its ridicules for multimedia! 2 of these things is overkill and I can’t wait to get my second one! I'll write a lot more about it once I play with it some more. But at first I plugged in the SWS link and it was really weak. I think I set the phase wrong or something, but it just was not getting any input! I had the SWS at max and the ultras sub at -9 and the ultra still sounded louder. Perhaps it was the phase or something like that, but then I decided to try method 2, using the stereo bypass and WOW… everything started shaking. The SWS beats even the 4.1 sub. Hooking this up to the 2.1’s could be overkill unless you set it right. I just turned my 2.1 sub off, there was no point for it, by the time the sws got past 8-oclock it was too base heavy for the 2’s, lol. BTW the control pod starts at 6-oclock and goes all the way around to 4, almost a 360. Speaking of which, it is VERY nice, completely finished, top and bottom with soft rubber. It stuck to my glass desk like glue and it has a wicked cool blue on light. Overall the SWS is a lot like the ultra in terms of sound, and power. In fact each ultra driver is only 85 watts RMS while this one pushes 100. So in fact, its driving the driver harder then the ultra, but there is only one. But like I said, it complements the ultra well with matching NONE THX logo(which imo looks better then the ultra thx one) and slotted port. The color is slightly darker, more like the GMX subs. Other then that, the sucker is HEAVY as sin, 33lbs. The 4.1’s with all 4 speakers are only 33lbs. so that will tell you something. Its got a lot of features in the back and its very versatile, I can hook this up to any mm system even home theater with no adaptors. Truly a great unite to own. I will write more about it if people wish. I don’t have any sound testing hardware, but I have tons-o multimedia speakers to test it with (4 altec sets and 4 klipsch sets). Anyway I was just exciting to hear it so I wanted to write a brief summery of my first impressive.

If you in any way whosoever you have the urge for slightly more bass, the SWS feeds that crave very well for very cheap. I can’t believe this thing was only 100 dollars. To be honest, it works best with the ultras. They are the only system I can turn the SWS up full without killing the sats, rofl. However the real beauty about the SWS is you can turn down your main sub and adjust the SWS exactly how you want it, I would set the crossover at 60 and let the SWS do the base, give more power to your sats and save your amp from being pushed so hard. This would be great for the 2.1’s or 4.1’s and especially good for to weak amp’ed GMX system. I can’t wait to see what this does to the GMX 5.1’s. I will test that in a few days.

I asked ears if he thought the B4 would match the ultra + 16 sws. After hearing just 1 SWS with the ultra I would be not bet on the B4. I have never heard the B4, I’m sure its capable of killing small children, but the SWS is impressive never the less. It definitely does not disappoint.

Oh btw, i also wondering what the box looked like, nothing special, its white with black letters and no pic. Its not cool like the other PM boxes, I figured someone might want to know that, at least I did, maybe im crazy, lol.

Anything other than DD 5.1?

I want to hook up my THX 5.1's to my television or home theatre. Is there anything else out there that I can use now that the DD 5.1 has been discontinued. Also why would it be discontinued if Klipsch knows it is needed for a situation like this?

Problem with Promedia DD 5.1

I have a problem with my promedia dd 5.1 as stated in my subject. The decoder works great for a while when i use it, but then it starts making my speakers sound crackly(if thats a good description). I noticed that it starts to do it when the power adaptor starts to over heat. I tried to get a new one(same specs) but the same problem occured after a while. Only thing left to try is a more heavy duty adaptor. I know its not the speakers since i can go right from my sound card to the amp and no problems occur. I am using a m-audio 7.1 sound card using a digital coaxial connection. I am pretty sure its not the card, because i have used it with a av reciever using the same cable and no problems occured at all for over a week.

I dont think it still has the warrenty. I love the system and except for this problem its been great. I have the 5.1 set with the ultra sub. I have used the optical connection and i dont really recall having that problem, though i dont use it as often or for the length of time. When it does go off the easiest thing for me to do is hook it up to my onboard sound card to the pod on the sub. Any suggestions aside from sending it in for repair, unless its decently cheap(i spent far to much money on electronics for other people lately, and very little left for entertainment). Thanks for the help if there is any.

I just purchaesd an A/V receiver and will be selling my DD-5.1. Feel free to message me if you are interested. I am looking for a something in the area of the ebay "going rate". If I'm not able to sell it, it will get posted on ebay.

The item works perfectly; never had any problems with it. It shipped directly from Hope, AR in Dec 2002. I have always had it connected to a HT filtering power strip. I used it initially with my Promedia 5.1 THX set, and then later to my PM5.1THX sub with RCX-4 and RSX-4s. I have used it from everything to ipod, xbox, xbox360, ps2, dreamcast, vhs, dvd, sdtv, hdtv, cd, sacd.

The unit is in decent shape. No major cosmetic flaws; some light scratchs here and there. I had been actively using the optical, coax, and line in ports so they're all functioning just fine. I quickly tested aux1 and aux 2 with an ipod and they worked fine.

Included is the ac adapter, remote, manual, and 3 adapter cables. I also have all the orignial packing materials; box, baggies. I even still have the optical port cover, and the plastic film that goes over the LCD display (although my attempts to re-stick it have been unsuccessful so far).

My Promedia 5.1 THX set will also be up for sale; it's condition is like-wise to that of the DD-5.1. I believe I purchased it in 2001. The first set had to go back, but the next set has been rock solid for the past 5-6 years.

However, I think you would be better served with a new/used Receiver and some cables I suggest you look at the back picture of the Denon AVR 1907 (Look for the "Pre-Outs" in the upper right of the picture. You need a receiver with 5.1 analog out connects.) http://www.denon.com/) OR, buy a preamplifier This is just an example of what you should look for, there are other cheaper receivers on he market. They must have the analog outs If your price point is for used or new components, you can try eBay or I use Andy at Saturday Audio Exchange http://www.saturdayaudio.com/ Saturday Audio is a Klipsch dealer for their main speaker lines.

SWS cone noise

I recently bought a used SWS and when it's in use I hear at times what seems to be air whooshing from the front of the unit. It reminds me of port noise actually. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions as to what it could be. I'm wondering if the seal between the cabinet and where the subwoofer actually makes contact has gone bad. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm going to put this on ebay in a couple days, but I thought I'd post here first. I've got and EXCELLENT condition SWS 8" subwoofer for sale. I'm only selling as I am buying a home theater setup (A/V receiver, surround). I was using the GMX speakers with this add-on SWS for my HTPC and it filled my entire living room with sound.

Anyway, make me an offer and I'll consider selling here before listing on ebay. This will include the SWS sub, the controller, power cord, surround cabes (allows for pass through), and a subwoofer cable.

My beloved Promedia Ultra Amp has died. It has served me magnificently for several years. I will trully miss the sub. So my DD 5.1 is available

Klipsch provided me with several options, but I choose to upgrade (Klipsch).

I think that Klipsch is missing the boat on marketing for the computer geeks. More people have digital sound from their computers, and Media Center PCs.

Klipsch should package their Quintet or RSX3 series with a Sub 10 in partnership with a small receiver as an upgrade to the Ultra 5.1s
