By right down I mean really quiet so I can have it on during the night and not disturb anyone. I recently tried a DAB bedside clock/radio and even this wouldn't go down as quiet as I wanted it to be. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether this product would be something I can use?

I have an iGroove HG that went out. The power light no longer lights up red or green, volume doesn't work. When I plug my ipod into it, the ipod still powers up, but if I hit play, nothing happens. I have had this for a couple of years, so I'm sure the warranty is expired. So is there an easy fix, or am I going to have to refer to the earlier (very detailed) post for breaking open my dock and replacing fuses? And for that matter, how the hell do you even break this thing open? I don't see a screw anywhere?

Thank You,

Last week, they just did not power on. After reading this forum a bit, I opened up the sub-woofer and found the fuse was blown. Got the replacement fuse from RadioShack and put it in. I tested before connecting anything with just the circuit board and ipod dock plugged in and it seemed fine (no speakers and woofer connections made). Next I put back everything and made the speaker and woofer connections and then turned on and the fuse blew even as I turned it on.

So I blew couple more fuses before narrowing down the problem to the sub-woofer. If I made the sub-woofer connction to the circuit board, the fuse would blow out. The RSX speakers themselves are fine. Now I have everything back and working except for the sub-woofer.

Just looking for some help on repairs. I read about replacing capacitors. It seems a bit out of my expertise level though I could read up and do something with a soldering iron if I was sure that it is the capacitors. But I cannot be sure it is the capacitors or the sub-woofer itself. Any way of narrowing this down to decide if it is the capacitors or the sub-woofer?

Also, how to remove the grill from the iFi sub-woofer and detach the sub-woofer from the frame? Can it be replaced with any 8" 8 ohm or 4 ohm sub-woofer (it says 6 ohm, but I dont see any 6 ohm replacements on the market)?

I just dont want to trash such a fine system on account of the sub-woofer not working, but without the sub, the system does not sound as good.

Any help from the experts is greatly appreciated.

Klipsch i-Fi. If the ifi decides to break down, i don't think i can find suitable replacement for my PC. Previously, before upgrading to ifi, i own a Klipsch GMX, it was also value for the money but seeing many of them dies, i upgraded to ifi which have less complaints.

from the beginning of using the ifi early this year, i never touched the mute button, and rarely increases or decreases volume button using the wheel. only when setting the bass to max each time i turned it on. as for the rest, RF remote does the job.

so, here i am, i hope some of you ifi owners don't mind sharing whether yours is fine or not. I'm pretty sure even though there are many failure, surely there are even more that are fine out there.

p.s. as i got my ifi from ebay, i found something weird inside the subwoofer. im not sure what it's called, but it's paralleled to one of the wire and yellow thingy on the"power filter" beside the toroidal transformer. however, as of now my ifi have not shown any symptoms of diseases.

iGroove doesn't charge iPod Nano

I just purchased an iGroove and it doesn't charge my iPod Nano (8G, 4th generation). I get a message on the screen saying "Charging is not supported with this accessory" when I power it on (using the remote). It's solidly plugged into the connector so why doesn't it charge. It almost defeats the purpose of having these speakers, if it doesn't charge. The manual says it does so either my unit is bad or the manual is wrong.

At first I didn't use the extra docking piece that comes with it for the Nano but even installing it didn't fix the problem.

Also, it plays my audiobooks which I don't want it to do. It randomly goes through the music files, audio books and podcasts instead of sticking with the music only. This is even more irritating than the lack of charging.

Did I just waste $$ on something that doesn't do what it's advertised to do?

Answer: I did a search for this error message and found many others in my situation. Apparently Apple has changed the charging mechanism and has supposedly told these other manufacturers to change their adapters but many haven't. This is true for iPhone too but the 1st/2nd gen iPods are fine. Great, now I have a useless set of speakers, thanks a lot Klipsch - that's the last I'll be buying from you.

Thanks, Deborah

No Sound on my RIGHT SPEAKER with my iFi system!!

Hello everyone, the system was working well and suddenly noticed that the right side (or right speaker) wasnt playing at all. In addition the off button does not function.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? It seems somewhat erratic and I cannot consistently recreate but when it does happen it is very annoying (as the system is pretty loud when on full blast).

When it does work it work fine - and have been very happy with them aside from the volume control problem.

Thanks

mark

iFi - Right channel OUT - blown/leaking capacitors

I've read through a bunch of issues with the iFi system and wanted to add my own recent one in case others have similar problems:

I've had my system for about 2 years and it's worked without a problem. It's hooked up to my computer (I don't use it for an iPod system) and always leave it "on". Recently, my right speaker channel stop working. I pulled the amplifier out of the sub and saw I had 2 leaking/blown capacitors. The fuse was not blown. I ordered Xicon direct replacements from Parts Express. At the bottom is a picture of the amp section and I put red numbers at the location for reference here. The 2 leaking capacitors were the ones at location 1 & 5 and you can see the blue replacements installed now. I had ordered an extra capacitor and decided to replace the original one @ location 3 (I know, the pic shows the original one there...I'll get to that).

So I put everything back together, hooked everything up and powered up the system. The power came on for 1 sec and then it all went dead. I opened it up and the fuse was blown ALONG with that new capacitor I put in location 3!! Since that original capacitor in that location seemed fine, I resoldered that one back in there (as you now see in the picture).

Ok, so I am planning on getting a replacement slo-blo fuse and am HOPING everything will be fine (yeah right). But most likely there is now something else a miss. Does any of this sound like an issue anyone else has had? Please help 'cause I love the sound of this little system! ha!

Thanks,

Tom

ps: I know it originally was a 250V 2amp fuse but I read others suggesting to go with a 3amp instead....? Any comments on that?

iGroove SXT

This unit states that it has a 3.5mm stereo input, but in reality it has a mono RCA input. has anybody noticed that? Is it true it only works with 80 gig and 160 gig ipod Classics and not the 120gig ipod classic?

IFI and universal remote

Hi,

First post here and and I want to say great forum I have learned much through lurking but I did a search on this to no avail. Forgive me if this has been covered, but I couldn't find it.

My situation is that in addition to syncing with my IPOD I am currently using my IFI's as a "Poor mans home theater" by running the RCA connection audio out from my TV to the line in on the dock. It works fine but my problem is that I lost my IFI remote in a move and the TV's remote does not control the audio line out volume. It also appears that the remote is no longer available from Klipsch so I'm not sure what to do.

Is anyone aware of a universal remote that might work with my TV and the IFI? I know that the original remote was RF but I'm unclear if this makes it incompatable with common universal remotes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bought new set of Ifi's for €159,- How do I tilt (?)

After reading all positive reviews I bought one of the last pairs in a big sale.

Boy, the set is ugly but I do like the sound.
