Connecting DD-5.1 to AV receiver to power Promedia 5.1 Speakers

Connecting DD-5.1 to AV receiver to power Promedia 5.1 Speakers - Has anyone tried this sort of feat? I understand that the Promedia's are 4 ohm speakers but the AV receiver prefers 8 ohm.

Is there a way to hook up all these gizmos so everything works ok and I don't damage my new Pioneer AV receiver?

Update, just figured it out besides the password Peer Guardian was blocking it,

Hi,

I have not been on this forum for quite some time, so when I tried to log in I discovered that I forgot my password. So I opted to have a new one sent, the password that was sent did not have a space at the end and ran into word next to it so I could not figure out what was the actuall temp password.

So when I tried to log in it would not work, so I had to have another temp password sent again and the same problem. I do not know how it happened but I'm signed in today but do not know the password that was used so not I can change the password to somthing that I can remember.

So how do I go about changing my temp password when I do not know it????

If you make a mistake putting it in it will never work and you have to have a new password sent again. This was driving me nuts yesterday.

Forum Not Found When Try To Access Edit Profile

I get a error message NOT FOUND: FORUM NOT FOUND when I click on the Edit Profile link. I think this began happening just before the networking upgrade.

Anyone else having this problem?

After playing around and modifying different speaker types, the last being Altec A7's. I've decided to have a go with a pair of Cornwall 1.5 (I think). I picked up these speakers for a good price as the previous owner had started to restore them but lost interest. I've read the PDF regarding how to identify but am a bit lost to the exact manufacture date as the serial numbers are 063 & 064, yes I made sure with the aid of a magnifying glass that the serial numbers do start with the number 0.

The Cornwalls are made up of the following components. K-77M (Tweeter), K-600 flare, K-52-K (Mid), K-33-E (Woofer) & B3 xover (massive white 70uF Poly something cap). What I've noticed is the poor bracing e.g. no side or front support/brace, for such a large box I'm a little dismayed as to why these boxes were braced so poorly. If I was to brace these boxes would this effect the liveliness of the box?

What I have noticed is that some Altec A7 owners have progressed to the Cornwalls as the Cornwalls present themselves better in a home environment. Soon I will find out.

I know Klipsch isn't directly attached to the forums, but I hope there's a moderator that can talk with the maintainers of the forum system. I have Klipsch La Scala speakers and I'm trying to decide between Sunfire True Mark II, and Zu Mini Method subwoofers. Both of these are on the used market here in Canada for $700 -800. Can anyone comment on either of these? I have a vintage Marantz receiver (2285b), but plan to graduate into tube gear one day.

The back has a connection that looks like a flipped S-video cable which a USB adapter can plug into.

Is there any way to get a cable which will plug into the subwoofer area on my Pioneer VSX D307?

need serial number help on Heresy speaker

I called on a pair of Heresy speakers that are for sale locally. I asked the lady what the serial numbers were, which she thought was an odd question, and she said she would check and call back. Well, she just called me back but only had one of them. I didn't want to press the issue about the second serial number until I found out what the age of these speakers are. They are the raw birch Heresy, have never been finished yet and the serial number she provided was 8840080. Can anyone tell me from looking at that serial number what the age of the speaker is? I'm interested in them because the one picture she has posted indicates they're in very good condition. However, I'm disabled and can't drive, so I don't want to ask a family member to drive me about 30 miles to go see them if they're too old. I currently have a set of Heresy's from 1979. Thanks for any help you can provide.

It seems that the guys and gals using this site could have a very clean responsive forum to sell or buy these audiophile speakers and related equipment. Why not organize it for that?

I work hard and don't have time to read through some of the ramblings on sports, cars or whatever else - those are great for discussions. When I need opinions I'm glad to read through those ramblings and do a concensus of opinions to sway my decision making process, that's cool when I've got time...

When the descision is made to acquire a particular model/year/upgrade or whatever, it sure seems hard to find.
