For sure! That "rift" or quartersawn cut is very pretty. Looks almost "heavy" more than a "medium" cut, can't really tell. That laquer really brought out the grain pattern. Those speakers may go for alot on eBay. They seem to be in really nice condition. Original owner paid "big bucks" for that time for the special order. Flat cut just does not bring out the grain like that. Have some older felt backed quartersawn pieces of Karelian birch which are pretty. They are going to have a nice cherry stain on some Heresy's that I'm restoring. I hope they look half as good as the those H-ASL's.

I would guess ash... lots of solid body electric guitars are made of ash. Nice looking Heresys.

Ash would be right. I often get oak and ash confused when I look at them.

It's hard to tell sometimes; I had to pull out the veneer sample sheets just to make sure it wasn't Anigre. I've seen a Klipschorn or Corwall, can't recall which, that was Anigre veneered; at a distance it's similar. I'm pretty sure that new Klipschorns now use ash ply wood instead of the Russian/ Karelian (Baltic) birch.

I knew this "woodhead" stuff was going to come in handy someday.....

Definitely looks like ash. Could be swamp ash, with the deeper grain figure.

Funny you should mention that; That's why I recognized it!! Why just the other day when my wife "nailed" me with that bat for something, I remember the last thing I saw was the "striking" patterns.....

I believe it's ash; "ASL" I think is ASh/Laquer and the L/S out to the side could be for a notation by the inspector that it was laquered/ sealed (?). I have a sample of ash veneer here and it appears identical. Oak looks close, but oak generally has a faint "rainfall" pattern present. Hope that helps.

I bought new H2's Mahogany...............never opened, or looked at them until I got them home..........I really like the Mahogany....Alot........Hang in there...............Rosewood is SWEET too..........Did you see Budman's Rosewood Cornwalls(I think they were Cornwalls) Those are FINE..........

BTW, I will be going to Indie next year for the Pilgrimage so if someone else needs a ride in the LR area let me know. I didn't make Hope this year 'cause I was at the Corvette show that weekend and couldn't get out of it.

They look real nice..............Will drop off in NYC area after you pay, alittle strange, but still good lookin' speakers........Have no clue as to wood type, wonder what reserve is? Didn't you find a pair yet, or still looking?
