Did you call Markgod? he has a line on a 1990's set in the same price range.

I have replied to Markgods' other "attention" thread and have passed... My wallet needs to recover from my recent sources upgrade before I get too ambitious!

Yes I have a set of the k-77-f, a set of the k-55-x's and a set of the newest woofers as well as both the AL-4's and AK-4's. The AL-4 and AK-4 are different xovers only sharing a common mid ranfe circut.

Only klipsch can answer your other questions. Anyone else trying to answer is just guessing.

I'm curious - do you have the tweeters and midrange drivers that went with your AK-4's? Klipsch.com lists the K-77-F as the tweeter and K-55-X as the midrange. [Edit:] I wonder if these are different from what folks have to play with, like the M or the V, or whether Klipsch tests these as packaged?

I was referring to availability of other models. I missed a set of Chorus IIs ($400) while waiting for another seller to respond, couldn't cross paths with the seller of a set of original Cornies, then DID find a set of Cornies which were sold out from under me.

So, I grabbed a set of nearly mint oiled walnut Quartets (well, mint until I knocked a corner of the laminate off the top :cry: ) just to get my Klipsch fix. I was first respondant and paid $225.
So far so good... my NAD T653 runs out of steam before the quartets start to break up ;) Normal listening and movie levels and they are sweeeet.

I know where you can get a pair of 1990 Klipschorns ,out of Brooklyn for $1400- $1500 . If interested let me know 315 797-4053 ask for Mark , I screen my calls ,so start talking when answering machine comes on and I will pick up.

Speakers actually sound fine stock.

I wanted to hear these stock before making changes.

I have the autoformer already so it's not a show stopper.

Well, what do you like/not like about them in that room with the stock x-overs? And.... couldn't you just pop in the ESN without adding the autoformer? You know... for those who'd like to hear a review of the basic x-over differences in how they come stock? ;)

yes, sad to say but true...we are incurably sick....I left work at 1pm, drove all night, got home at 4am, had breakfeast, soon as it got light, hauled everything in, been playing tunes all day, most of the night....

es400+5800 are going in soon....but I have to do an autoformer upgrade to them first....replacing the stock autoformer with this gem. Same turns ratio and stepping, but this one has specs of 2hz - 2mhz. Weights 6 lbs.

No, everyone's affected -- right-clicking for "properties" shows each one sized at 2200 by 1700 pixels, and a file size of 900,000 bytes. Those are big loads for the forum and impossible for the dial-up folk. Re-size to 550 - 600 pixels width, and try to get the file size down to 100,000 or less -- thanks!
