The Klipsch Museum of Audio History is divesting itself of certain artifacts to insure physical space for future acquisitions. In other words, we’re cleaning house - not moving out. These items are either duplicates, or not specifically related to the Paul Klipsch ”story”. Still, many of them are significant to the history of audio, and this is your opportunity to become their next “caretaker”.

You may have noticed some changes in the works for Klipsch. With the economy effecting the world, people are reacting and changing the way they live. Klipsch is also evolving in the way we reach our audience. There is a new virtual community out there on the internet that we need to be a part of. That way we can keep in touch with our Peeps. Many of our Klipsch employees have developed accounts on MySpace, Facebook and Tweeter to blog about their lives and the lives of others at Klipsch.

I have recently opened an account on Facebook that you can find if you search ProfessorThump. I opened it up for Klipsch announcements but to be honest I have had a lot of fun catching up with friends and family. Some friends were even in high school with me and I hadn't talked to them for 30 years. So it can be real fun catching up.

Check out our new Facebook page and link to the announcements. By doing so you will help us get on the Google maps for user hits when others search. Post a comment if you like and link things that you might feel is important. My Tech Blogs and Professor Thump Blogs will also be posted on Facebook from time to time. Just wanted to write a little note and say hello to all!

I am new to this forum and have been a big fan of Klipsch ever since my buddy purchased himself a pair of RF-7s. Everytime I looked through Klipsch's product line ups, I was mysteriously drawn to the Heritage line. I just graduated from college and decided it was finally time to go find myself some decent audio products (had been listening to 2.0 computer speakers my entire life). I checked out my local Craigslist and spied a deal on what was billed as vintage Heresy IIs. I checked them out and ended up making the purchase.

In a rather amazing turn of events, I emailed Klipsch Support about when this particular pair was made and it turns out they were produced in the 42nd week of 1986 which is about the week after I was born. The guy who owned them before me decided to paint them, but I am planning to eventually sand and refinish them.

More pictures of placement and gear later after I finish my grad school homework!

I felt I needed to express my gratitue towards member JHOAK for refunding my payment that, initially I was unhappy about. Even though it was my lack of knowlwdge that caused my un-happinss. I bought a pair of risers for my Heresy 1's risers. I thought that all the risers were the slanted type. I did not know that there are also flat risers. When I recieved them I kind of thought that I had been taken. To make a long story shorter, Jeff (jhoak) refunded my payment and told me to keep the risers and do what I wanted with them. I really believe that Klipsch owners are a different breed of people.

Thanks again to Jeff Hoak for restoring my faith in humanity, and human kindness.

Bob Carver, of Phase Linear, Carver Corporation & Sunfire fame, attended our second annual CarverFest in the Smoky Mountains this month (10-15 Sep 08). Some pics from the event (see details at http://www.carveraudio.com - you'll need to sign up for access to some items):

Bob gave held a drawing to give away a pair of these tube monoblock amps he designed! Wow! He also gave away a pair of his Sunfire Cinema Ribbon speakers (CRM-2).

The cabins were FANTASTIC!

I have to say, Bob is the most approachable multi-millionaire engineer I've every met. He spent the entire 5 days at the event and was most approachable & it was quite clear he had an EXCELLENT time! I had an opportunity to steal about 30 minutes of his time. We talked about the history of how I got my system together (he said of my AL-IIIs "they're MINT!") and also about an easy physical mod to counter the 7-8k ribbon resonance WITHOUT a notch filter in the crossover/eq. HINT: check out the front of the new Sunfire Cinema Ribbons. He came to me on three different occasions & asked to hook up his tube amps to my system~what an honor! (It sounded FANTASTIC, BTW)

Bob relentlessly signed everything we put in front of him; I'm certain he was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome by the end of the week! A HUGE thanks out to him for putting up with a bunch of drooling goobs falling over ourselves at sight of him....he is really just a great person & made everyone feel completely as ease. Once we were over the euphoria of meeting him, it was as easy to talk to him as anyone else at the Fest. He was interested in everyone's systems & eagerly swallowed up details of how we did what & what we thought about things. If you asked him a question about his thoughts on how something might sound, he'd say "I don't know, let's TRY it!" I only HOPE I have his energy level & spark of life when I'm his age. James Sauter made an EXQUISITE plaque for Bob (see above) that we all signed with gold & silver pens. Bob was close to tears when James presented it to him.

-The surroundings in the Great Smoky Mountains was fantabulous! Hot tubs on the deck, plenty of fresh air, things to do within a few miles, TONS to keep you busy in audio listening & discussion. Who could ask for more?!?

This big box sounded amazingly good powered by everything from the classic Fisher tube receiver to a Dynaco ST-35 (also tubes), a Bedini 25/25 - a NuForce Icon and a wonderful Altmann BYOB. It doesn’t sound “dated” or old-fashioned. Just musical.

I purchased a pair of RF-62, one RC-62 and pair of RS-42 for $1150 shipped...... I am still debating if i should buy the RW-12D for 499.00 also from 6ave...... is 499.00 a good price this sub? or should i buy a cheaper sub like the JBL ES250P which pushes 400rms.....

Dudes, I just scored 2 black RF-7s and a black RC-7 for 1,000.00. I'm about to have a Klipsch orgasm. Yep, there it goes. There are some dings but I can repair them and it's def a net gain. I just wanted to share my happiness with the rest of my klipsch hommies.
