If I sold these near-mint HIP (black glass and aluminum trim) to Frzninvt for about $800 I could make some badly needed cash. But I'm going to sell them to him for the same $500 that I have in them. (ok I kept an Anvil case that came with them but I had a 4.5 hour drive so that pays for my gas). He and a lot of you guys have done me favors in the past and I try to pass along the good karma when I can.

My last deal was a pair of black glass LSI's that I spent a day stripping paint off of for Aliclator. I bought them with him in mind knowing that he's been wanting a pair of big pro Klipsch for some time. I had $450 in them plus a trip and a day's labor. I think I sold to him for $600.

But that's just me. Gas costs money, time costs money, parts cost money, elbow grease costs money.

Let's look at from another angle. When was the last time you took your old car into the dealership and the dealer could see that you have lovingly cared for this vehicle that your about to send to the next caretaker for the rest of its existance, and he recognized that you've been such a wonderful car owner that he feels obligated to give you every nickle that your car would be worth on the retail market, and since your such a great person he's goning to discout the new car that your buying by at least 20%, just because your who you are.

I'm gonna puke.

Don't nock the guy for falling into a fabulous deal, taking a chance on the "sight unseen purchase", be willing to spend the time to get the critters, not to mention the time and the willingness to fix em up, and he still tries to sell them for nearly half of market value.

Bet your car dealer, on the other hand, tries to steal you trade in, poke you in the backside for an overpriced sticker, and tries to get you to "thank him" for treating you so wonderfully.

Everybody here who has a problem with this sale should read a couple of books about selling. You'd have a very different view of how it really works.

I too find nothing wrong with you selling them for $400. That is still a fantastic price for them. You probably should charge more to cover the back surgery you might need one day from moving them. :) Nice score on a chance speaker. They could have been junk but turned out to be a jewel. Steve is happy, Cornman is happy. I have always felt that people have the right to charge whatever they want for their gear. If they want to try and get market value for it, I see nothing wrong with that. If they are trying to get more than market value when they bought it at a steal, they are merely trying to take advantage of someone and that's not cool. If they want to pass on a deal that they got to another forum member, that is very noble of them. Bottom line, it's their decision. Best wishes to both of you.

Ok guys, I did not have internet acess this weekend, & I just saw all the controversy regarding sale today. This subject has been hotly debated here before & proably will return again. In the intrest of good will with all, & hopes that I am not perceived as some Scruge who is out to scalp ever one I woud like to state this deal as I see it.

First off & formost there was complete diclosure. I told the story of the thrill & excitmenet (& work) & cost in procuring the Lascala's. All so note in the originall post "I took a chance in buying because I could not hear them play.These could have easly turned into a bottomless money pit of repairs. As it turned out I only had to replace a diaphram in one tweeter, which I did myself. I also patched a few holes some one had placed in the cabinet.So I had $200.00 invested + $30.00 diaphram & assorted types of labor. If I had not disclosed my purchase price I doubt there would have been any grumbling, because as best I can tell $400.00 is a very good price as the new owner (Steve - Maxsdad) stated in this thread If Steve had of passed these there were 3 other partys waiting for an opporyunity to buy. So in the end most items will only bring what the maket will bear.I woud never ever miss represent an item I have for sale & that is all I have asked from various folks on ths forum that I have purchased from. I never thought or asked what a seller had payed for there sale item. My only consern was it a fair market price & as described.

The purchase of the Lascalla's allowed me to personally compare (Priceless) there sound to my Cornwalls. And yes Colter I do love all things Klipsch, but unlike you I do not have the space or enough money to afford to keep a collection. The profit that was made went right back into this hobby (New caps in my Bat amp.)

So, have no fear of the Cornman. I will never miss lead or intenionally do any one harm.

Everything that I have sold here has been at or below my cost. If I feel the need to make a profit I sell it elsewhere. Just feel guilty about making profit off the people on this forum after they have helped me get started. However- I have 2 sets of Lascalas and I paid much more for mine and was happy to do it. 400 is a steal. Sticky subject- tough call. Congrats on the speakers. They are wonderful.

I think $400 for a pair or industrial scalas is a great deal...if I was closer and had the money, I would have gladly paid $400 for them, even if he had gotten them for free. Enjoy the speakers too, maxsdad

I, Maxsdad, have made arrangements with Cornman to come to Austin and gladly pay him and take home the industrial Lascalas, where I will love them and listen to them. The I will Ranger train them and add them to my "assault " pair to form the home theater from hell. Yes, I read know what he got them for vs the selling price, and am glad to pay the difference. He found em, he chased 'em and he caught 'em! The way I see it, "gunfighters don't charge by the bullet"! Besides, short of burglary of a habitation, where else is an old broken down soldier gonna get a better deal?

Cornman, you found those speakers on the cheap in the first place. They are yours to sell at any price. I see no problem what so ever in selling them for a profit, even a nice fat one. Thats the beauty of getting off your a$$, hunting and landing em. Not only that but $400.00 looks like a fine deal for the next guy to boot. Its a double good deal for everybody.
