We used a pair of these for drum monitors or side fills back the late 80's early 90's in a sound co. I worked for. And also used them as the mains for smaller club work. They were beasts. Sensitive and finicky on the power they wanted but when matched well sounded great. And rugged as hell. We had the 4 way big Klipsch PA system (name/model? 4 way, passive crossovers, tweeter, 2 horns & massive bottom cabs) massive amounts of macintosh power on the bottom end and passive crossovers that sucked power like crazy- but it sounded terrific. Was abused in venues and state fairs all over the South East. memories...

Re: 1986 La Scalas for sale

Sorry. Originally, named Jake and Elwood, a matched pair of LS-BR La Scalas have been
with me since I purchased them new in August of 1986. They were raw, loud, and
unblemished then. Today they are with color: Minwax Ipswich Pine, a top layer
of birch veneer to cover a water stain, and the awesome sound from a 2005
upgrade to the ALK Engineering network. As I recall, parts alone for the ALKs
was over $200 and I feel I did a damn good job with the assembly. To further
protect the tops, a custom set of 1/4 glass plates are included. I thought of
selling them on Craigslist, E-Bay or Audiogon, but I would really like to keep them in the
Klipsch forum community.

At $1200 for the pair and a conservative rating of 8.5 out of 10, I feel
this is a price I can be firm with and the new owner will be pleased.

The lucky buyer must be able to come get them.

I will try to get more pictures this week.
