    I can smell "cedar"!!!

That's great news!! Just like the old days!!

Coytee: Go to joewoodworker.com and look at the paperbacked veneers available for some ideas of what's available in this eco-friendly age. He also has a "sample" book for professional veneer folks to show their customers. Very extensive selection. Little pricey at about $38 for the book, and it shows pretty much what's commercially available. The samples are also big enough to get an idea of the grain and the natural hue of the sample woods. He also has some very expensive sheets, notably the "burls" but most are not large enough to either "bookmatch" for a pair of speakers, or large enough for example, the front of a Klipschorn.  I have one of Joe's "old" sample books (4" x 6") if you want to borrow it to see what the veneers look like "raw".

Rambling Rose (and "Persian Nut Wood") were actually pieces of birch (or possibly walnut) that were first linear cut. These pieces were then dyed appropriately with different stains/colors and then reglued back together. Then the piece was rotary cut to produce the spectacular patterns and the colors. An example of this technique was used by Ruger for their gunstocks and pistol grips in the 1980's.

    Re: Exotic Wood Veneers

This new info ought to shake some of us loose to buy some new heritage.  The information should be on the KHorn, LSII, CWIII, HIII product pages too so that the whole world knows they are not limited to Black, Cherry and Walnut!

    I'm pumped.
