    FS: MAD 4A-SE Tube Preamplifier

I'm selling a Mapletree audio 4A-SE preamp. I purchased it from another forum member. This preamp has a switchable power supply witch enables you to switch from 6SN7 type tubes and 12SN7 series tubes. Since I've had it I've added the oak panels and changed the ground plug (there was a cheesy plastic one there). I tried cleaning it once with windex and it pulled the paint off of the brass bezels but as you can see from the pics I'm including new ones so they can be applied if you choose. This is a pretty nice entry level preamp and the tubes are easy to obtain and affordable. If you're into vanity it's not the prettiest. I have the original manuals and some spair tubes as well. I'd would like $425 for it plus shipping. If you're interested PM me and I can provide more info. Thanx.      Mark

One more pic and a tad bit more info on this. The SE designation stands for special edition and that came about apparently when Craig Otsby recommended some changes for LLoyd to incorporate on his designs (auricaps and black gate bypass caps).

LOL it's Ostby but don't feel bad people flip the s & t all the time. But yes I talked Lloyd into many changes to the design of the Ultra 4 preamp that spawned the SE version. I even prompted the change to tube rectification and a much larger power supply filters. These are great bang for the buck 6SN7/12SN7 preamps really nice sounding to boot.

Thanx for verifying that Craig and sorry for the mis-spelling. Right now I'm using a "Nos valved" Scott 299 and enjoying it. Plus my wife can use it without being intimidated. I'm getting rid of this to move up the scale a bit.  Mark

$375 for a nice sounding preamp with a decent phono section and no takers? You'd think some mislead SS guy Wink would want an inexpensive way to try the taste of tubes in there system..... This preamp is a cathode follower output so it will drive most SS amps without a problem.
