    Ease into Summer Thread

Time to get it the mood. It's coming. Hot days and steamy nights. Skeeters and firerflys. So let's set the mood with a holiday lyric thread that slides us slowly into the into all the myriad aspects of summer. I surely know that everyones got a song that brings those memories and emotions to the fore.

    Gotta start with a classic:

    Summertime
    And the living is easy
    Fish are jumping
    The cotton is high
    Oh your daddys rich
    Your mamas good looking
    I said hush little baby
    Dont you cry

    One of these mornings
Youre bound to rise up singing
    Then youll spread your wings
    And take to the sky
    But til that morning
Nothings going to harm you no
With daddy and mama standing by

    Summertime
    (sweet summertime)
    And the living is easy
    (living is easy)
    Fish are jumping
    The cotton is high
    (sky high)
    Oh your daddys rich
    (your daddys rich)
    And your mamas good looking
    (your mamas good looking)
    I said hush little baby
    Dont you cry

There's this one, from the Doors:

    Indian Summer

    I love you, the best
    Better than all the rest
    I love you, the best
    Better than all the rest
That I meet in the summer
    Indian summer
That I meet in the summer
    Indian summer
    I love you, the best
    Better than all the rest

Waters starting to warm up too. Can't wait to go here:

Oh when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof.
And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fire-proof.
Under the Boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby, is where I'll be.

    (Under the Boardwalk)
    Out of the sun.
    (Under the Boardwalk)
Man, we'll be having some fun.
    (Under the Boardwalk)
    People walkin' above.
    (Under the Boardwalk)
We'll be falling in love under the Boardwalk,

    Boardwalk.

From the palms you hear the happy sounds of the carousel,
and you can almost taste the hot-dogs and french fries they sell.
Under the Boardwalk, down by the sea
on a blanket with my baby, is where I'll be.

    (Under the Boardwalk)
    Out of the sun.
    (Under the Boardwalk)
Man, we'll be having some fun.
    (Under the Boardwalk)

Everywhere I hear the sound of marchin chargin feet boy

Cause summers here and the time is right for fighting in the street boy

Well now what can a poor boy do

Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band

Cause in sleepy London town there's just no place for

    A street fighting man.........No

Hey! think the time is right for a palace revolution

But where I live the game to play is compromise solution

Well what can a poorboy do

Except to sing for a rock 'n' roll band

Cause in sleepy London town there's just no place for

    A street fighting man..........No

Hey! said my name is called disturbance

I'll shout and scream,I'll kill the King,I'll rail at all his servants

Well what can a poorboy do

Except to sing for a rock'n'roll band

Cause in sleepy London town there's just no place for

    A street fighting man...........NO..........Get Down!

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer

Just fill your basket full of sandwiches and weenies
Then lock the house up, now youre set
And on the beach youll see the girls in their bikinis
As cute as ever but they never get em wet

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Youll wish that summer could always be here

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer

Dont hafta tell a girl and fella about a drive-in
Or some romantic moon it seems
Right from the moment that those lovers start arrivin
Youll see more kissin <wolf whistle> in the cars than on the screen

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Youll wish that summer could always be here

Youll wish that summer could always be here

Mungo Jerry has a great outlook on summer....

In the summertime when the weather is hot
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
    When the weather's fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

If her daddy's rich take her out for a meal
If her daddy's poor just do what you feel
    Speed along the lane
Do a ton or a ton an' twenty-five
    When the sun goes down
You can make it, make it good in a lay-by

    We're no threat, people
We're not dirty, we're not mean
We love everybody but we do as we please
    When the weather's fine
We go fishin' or go swimmin' in the sea
    We're always happy
Life's for livin' yeah, that's our philosophy

    Sing along with us

When the winter's here, yeah it's party time
Bring your bottle, wear your bright clothes
    It'll soon be summertime
    And we'll sing again
We'll go drivin' or maybe we'll settle down
If she's rich, if she's nice
Bring your friends and we'll all go into town

He has truth; the wheel of time may roll whither it pleases, never can it escape from truth. It is important to hear that such have lived. All Hail Hypno Toad!!!

See the curtains hangin' in the window

In the evening on a Friday night

A little light a-shinin' through the window

Let's me know everything's all right

Summer breeze makes me feel fine

Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind
