There is a "golden ratio" for applying capital investiments to you system:  Spend 50% on source material.  Spend 25% on speakers.  Spend 25% on every thing else.

If you have a system that gives you great satification, it is a shame to not have enough music to appreciate it.

Valves sound better to my ear.

You don't have to spend mega $ to get great sound.

Listen to music new to your ear.  Worst case, you don't listen to it again.  Best case you have a new genre or artist you enjoy.  I scored a T. Monk album last week.  There will be more to follow.

My system always sounds better after the tubes warm up, and then even better after i've finished a Beefeater martini.

The chances of frying a tweeter or blowing a speaker fuse are directly proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed before a listening session...

2-channel system includes Carver Amazing Loudspeakers (AL--III), Carver SD/A-360 CD Player, Oppo 981HD DVD/SACD Player, Sunfire Theater Grand-IV processor, Sunfire 400 watt x 7 power amplifier bi-amping the Carver speakers and also running a Klipsch RT-12d sub crossed over at 40 hz & 10 dB down. Sounds INCREDIBLE~

Not if you have an MCM stack, where you get 110 db per watt in any room of a house. You'll blow your ears first.

I also agree. without a forum like this one, that's one of the things that's "learned the hard way".  I remember when I realized that I had somewhat of a reputable system, I went out and spent around 200 bucks on speaker cable.  Won't make that mistake again.............

    5.2 System:
    Hitachi 52" HDTV (Non HDMI)
    Pioneer VSX-2016AVs (surrounds & subs)
    ROTEL RB-956AX (left, center, right)
    Sony BDP-S350 Blu Ray player
    Monster Power HTS1600MKII powercenter
    F2 mains
    C2 center
    S1 surrounds
    RW 10
    Sub 12
    Logitech Harmony 550 remote

It's sort of like Synergy on steroids!!!

I would rather listen to music than listen to my stereo.  If I am getting too critical of how my system sounds, I need to listen to differant, and more music.

Generally speaking, HT systems are good for movies. 2-channel systems are good for movies and music.
