Looking good. Is there a vertical flare on those, or just straight tops/bottoms? I'd love to hear all of your creations someday. Yes

Mike, if you look at the first page pics, you can see the vertical flare.

Yes, a vertical flare.  Can't remember the angle.  In my notes somewhere.  Probably close to 10

Oh just fine.  I won't discuss those speakers much on this forum as it will just be beaten' down.  They sound great.  That is my non-tinker side of the room.  MAC DAC to MAC Monoblocks to MAC speakers.  Only a volume knob and power buttons...that is it.  Nothing for me to fiddle at all...no balance, no tone control...blah,blah.

I've heard a few different flavors of speaker similar to the Macs, but if I remember correctly, the Macs are the only one using a Bessel array. They thumped something pretty nice the last two times I've heard them and the Bessel keeps em from sounding too phasey.

Did you just say "vertical member"?

    Always talking shop, tsk tsk.

Those are so nice laminated.  I see you wanted strength and toughness so you went with paint, but I bet they would look great with stain or clear.

Are they done, or when when they be ready for you to listen/test out?

Now, I know it's not going to be reality, cause the thing gotta go through wires and gotta go through filters and this and that. But what I really like is to get as close to the natural sound of the instruments as possible. That's why I like analog as opposed to digital. Because I don't give a *** what anybody tells you man, I know what you guys are going to tell me...'Oh yeah, but it's clean Ray!' Well it's clean but it don't got no balls!!!" -Ray Charles

I bet 6 weeks at the earliest.  I can only work on them in small increments.....between kids and call.

Black paint will be the finish.  Yep.  I want them to look good but not that good.  Besides...the finishing part is soooo boring to me.  I almost want to hire out for that part.

How do they sound? I'm working on finalizing plans for a similar horn so I'm real interested in the performance you're getting.

    Re: jc's tractrix bass bin

I haven't tested it yet.  My main goal is to get them out of the garage right now before my wife kills me.  So I'm gonna sand and finish the other one.  I may run some curves and such in the near future but it will be some time before music goes throught them.

The last straight horn I built had a throat just like these but a smaller and shorter horn.  It sounded incredible which is the reason I went for more/bigger of the same.

JC, it came nice. How soon will you be able to listen to it? Have the woofers?
