I am using 2 industrial LS rears and a standard LS for a center between 2 k horn fronts in my HT setup.  Would this mod be advisable for the center LS or all 3 given this combination. The k horns are box stock 1982s with AAA crossovers. Cornwall surrounds which seem to work with just about anything.

Understood of course that I may have to pay extra for the single or buy another pair.

I have Bob Crites A/4500 and CT125 tweeters.  What would I have to do to these crossovers to use your horn?

You dont have to change anything to use the horns, I tested with AA crossovers and worked well, I prefer a 500Hz crossover because 400Hz is near this horns FC, but seems to work fine.

I am guessing Bobs A4500 is crossed at 400/4500 for use with the CT-125 tweeter, this should make nice use of the K-55's and sound great.

Re: Fastrac Lascala Midrange horns $325

I am buying some ALK Trachorn 400s for my Khorns. When I called Mr.K last week, he said that the LSs could not handle his 400s without some chain saw surgery :((.

Mr K told me that I had to decide on the squaker horn before deciding on the xover network due to the 4-5K HZ xover points as dictated by the horn used.

Could we get some feedback from users of your wooden horns. I might also be interested, but prefer to get some user feedback first.

The drop in feature for your LS horn seems Uber useful. There is also a guy in Maine doing Khorn upgrades, but with fancier drivers and tweeters their end cost is about $2000. Mind you, he uses a 2" throat, not a 1". Also, my LSs from the mid 70s (AA networks) will get Crites recaps (just ordered). Not certain I want to spend more for the ALK universals. They were being used as main room rears (and previously used as bedroom mains, but too big in current bedrooom). I now intend to use them as centers in both main room and bedroom.

    Thx from New Orleans

     Nola

I have a pair of GotHover's fastrac horns, but haven't had the chance to listen yet. The drivers are mounted, but I still need to re-build my crossovers. However, I can give you feedback on his slightly larger horns. I ran those horns with a pair of GPA 902 (Altec) and JBL 2470 mid drivers. I compared  to both the klipsch k400 and the altec 511 horns. No contest, GotHover's tractrix horns won hands down. I do not doubt that I will be just as happy with the sound of the fastrac tractrix, and the fact that it's a drop in replacement makes it a "no brainer" upgrade. When I get my system up and running, I'll post my impressions.

I love my Fastrac's, the clarity over the originals is unbelieveable. I should inform you however that I know the builder so my input will probably have less validity than others, even though my ears work equally as well.

     GotHover,

I have Crites caps on the way. Can you tell us:

    1) for AA networks, are the stock network/settings ok, or are other cap uF sizes and resistors needed?  If so, can you post a diagram of the proposed changes? Maybe also make reccs as to where to buy the parts from

    2) For the ALK universals, same Q. These are far less expensive then the ALK ESs. (I would hope to avoid spending the addl $150 per LS if possible, as mine are likely going to be used as center channels in main room and bedroom). I plan to order ALK Uni's for the Khorns with trachorns.
