    Electro Voice Aristocrat Mods

So I started out with Klipschorns and a LaScala up front.   I have had these since 1975.   I had 1976 Heresy's in the rear.  At lower listening levels everthing was fine.   But at high levels you need more power to the Heresy to try and keep up with the Khorns.   This is not a good thing.  So I sold them to a friend.   Recently I got a pair of the EV Aristocrat's.  $60 a pair.   These are almost a Heresy!   T35B tweeter   SP12B woofer.   But these  couldn't keep up.   So here is what I did.     First pix    Start with the Aristocrat

My aristocrats were two way T35B tweeter SP12B woofer.   Almost a Heresy.   I got a 8HD with T35 driver for a mid.   A little better not much!  Here is the outside view

For these you need the EV ADH-1   adapter  to use screw on drivers.   Like the EV1824M  drivers I got.

Now the SP12B was used in the older Heresy,  but these will not take much power.  A small tube amp type woofer.  So I got a pair of EV EVM 15L's

    .

Then I made a new motor board for the new woofers and original tweeters.

Back together with the horn on top.    This Frankenspeaker Smile  now keeps up with Khorns and LaScala!   Well I had fun making these,  What next?

I will some day make Belle style bins for the EV EVM 15L's

So what to do with the old motor board?   Put wings and triangles on it,  block up tweeter hole. Use the X36 between horn and woofer.

EV Aristocrat's were my very first speakers in 1969! They were a used pair with a new Sansui AU-555 amplifier and a Dual 1212 turntable filling out the rest of the system. Mine looked just like yours and given your poximity to me they could be one and the same. :)
