Back to business.  For those that can only dream of some of the more expensive speakers systems previously listed, KEF's least expensive line, the iQ series, includes five two-channel models starting at $300/pair. (There are also iQ center and surround models.) The top of the line, the iQ9, a floorstander retails for $1200/pair. All Q speakers feature KEF's unusual Uni-Q coincident-driver array: a ¾" aluminum-dome tweeter placed at the center of a midrange cone and a 6.5" titanium-coated polypropylene-cone midrange unit to cover the 280Hz–2.8kHz range and two 6.5" low-frequency drivers, each in its own housing with its own front-loaded port, to minimize crosstalk...

A more budget oreintated top 10 might include the MG1.6QR which stands 65 inches high, 19 inches wide and 2 inches deep.  It has a flat mylar midrange/bass panel with a quasi-ribbon crossing over at 500hz.  While it doesn't look much, for $1725 a pair this speaker is good buying...

Thiel make a very nice little floorstander - the CS1.6 at $2390 per pair and measure 35.5"H x 9"W x 11.5"D and weigh 38 pounds each. The cabinetry is outstanding with the baffle being 2 inches thick...

The Totem Model One has been around a long time.  It's an "oldie but a goodie".  Reently updated with a signature version being offered, it's superbly built  and an excellent option...

I guess a direct competitor to the Totem is the the Reference Series RB-75 bookshelf loudspeaker which was first introduced in 2003 and manufactured by Klipsch until 2006. This award-winning performer offered the ultimate power and detail of the flagship RF-7 floorstander in a bookshelf design.  Klipsch have not as yet offered a direct replacement for this loudspeaker - which in turn replaced the RB5II.  Still available if you look hard...

Spendor's first loudspeaker, the BC1 broadcast monitor, set entirely new standards for sound accuracy, and technical performance. It had a revolutionary 8 inch driver with a plastic cone and natural rubber surround. Spendor's new S8e is based entirely on modern technology but like the BC1 it also has an 8 inch (210mm) plastic coned bass-midrange driver with an exceptionally smooth extended response...

This is the tiny 'Atom' from Paradigm.  For many it is their introduction to real hi-fi.  Properly set-up with suitable electronics, the Atom can offer surprisingly good sound...

After all this budget hi-fi talk I need to talk about something esoteric.  I do prefer the Sophia, the Watt/Puppy system is something special...
