Raw curves on Roy's Cinema Products.

I am interested in seeing some curves on some Commercial/Cinema Products.

This is not an attept to challenge Roy but to see what this stuff does and allow some of us to make a decision on products.

Roy.  Have you got some curves for the K510 with the K69?

If you get around to it:  Curves on the KPT-884, KPT-684.......and the K-703.  Gonna build a system sooner or later and some of these may be in it.  No rush as I know you have others things to do at work than piddle with us forum junkies requests.

    Thanks in advance Roy.

    Easy to understand Roy.

Couple of things.  That KPT-684 is an impressive product.  Looks to me like that is good out to 600Hz.  The impedance doesn't change much way out there.  Very versatile.  Not much EQ needed there.

The K69 on the 510 is "falling" some at 4000Hz.  I need to think about that w/o EQ.  With EQ...Do you basically do one of those 6dB shelfs at about 4000Hz.

The KPT-884 is a real house rumbler.  Nice and flat to 125 Hz.  Not much EQ needed there.

Roy.  Very nice work....I know that isn't much coming from a non-pro but the info really does help me.

Worked with an Architect today about a new house.  A slow process.  The above may be used in a downstairs "dude room".  Not really an HT room....but a stereo room for me.  The HT room will be different.........more theater looking with some small scale reference products.

I'll need to look at this some more.

OK.  Don't laugh...just....thinking......  I know that two KPT-684's in one room is rediculous.  But that bass bin /Subwoofer is almost like an "LF section".  Unlike subwoofer which peter out in the 100-200Hz.

What would be the problem with crossing the bass bin at say 500Hz and and basically making it a LF section.

you funny man!  it's not ugly enough.  put the 402 horn on top of that beast...to answer you question, nothing wrong with it.  you see in the cinema, the lf section really does not need to go below 40-45 hz cause the processors automatically crossover at about 50 to subs.  that is also another reason why we sell components and only offer suggested systems, so that people can mix and match to their hearts content.....you truly have a tinkerer's heart....

you can to flatten it out.....

this one was developed to go against a sub that used the aura 18" and we go into the battle to win!!  if you know what i mean!!

Re: Raw curves on Roy's Cinema Products.

    Hey Roy!

Thanks for the K510/K69-A Information and it's interesting to compare it with the K402/K69-A.

I notice that the Impedance curves appear to be pretty much identical.

I also notice the SPL vs Freq curves shows as expected that the K402/K69-A on axis response is up about +4db from approx. 600Hz to nearly 1.25kHz which I assume is the more ideal Polar Control of the K402 at play here.

The other observation is the differance in response from about 12.5kHz to 18kHz where by this plot the K402 looks a little smoother by several db also. Is this because the K402 Polar Angle is starting to decrease in this range versus the K510?

So with that observation I've got a request that I will e-mail you Roy?

    Edit: Hey Roy,

I just remembered per my request in the e-mail that we would be comparing different drivers but it would still be interesting to see!

    hey miketn,

what did you think of the polar data of the 510 and 402?  and no don't show it to jc or shawn or deano and especially coyotee-o!
