OB, I am a longtime Cubs season ticket holder so I was at all the Cub playoff games in '03 including the Bartman game. You are correct, that loss was not on him but rather on the shortstop Alex Gonzalez booting a routine double play ball on the next play which would of ended the inning. Instead it opened the floodgates and turned a 3-1 Cubs lead into a 8-3 deficit.
Even more significant was Dusty's inability to make the simplest managerial decisions in handling a pitching staff through the rest of that game and following game. As a fan I suffered through 4 years of his incompetence as a manager. That guy is a Grade. A. Moron.
I don't care who the Cubs might be lucky enough to play, Yankees or Red Sox, even though the fans of both teams are insufferable. 
I'm just glad the World Series will be back after being cancelled the last two years.
