    WTB: Tube integrated

Looking for a Scott or similar.  After having VRD's I can't tolerate anything but tubes.  My NAD is just not cutting it in my Garage/shop.  Looking to spend around 500.00.

    Re: WTB: Tube integrated

    Hi,

I am just about to list a pair of mono Scott 99b integrated amps on Ebay.

Both of these units have been gone over and refreshed by Terry De Wick (the well known McIntosh tech) down in TN and sound fantastic.

Scott 99's go for around $500 for a pair on Ebay without the benefit of Terry's handy work and I will be including the paperwork of his work with the amps.

These amps are not in perfect physical shape but are cool examples of mid 1950's tube technology.

And with the right tubes, sound heavenly.

These were made to run (2x) 6l6GB and (3x) 12ax7, have a phono stage (I never used it) and are tube rectified (1x5U4)

There is a pair of 99d's about to close on Ebay this weekend and I will be listing my 99b's right after that.

Drop me a line if you have interest.

    ~Noah

    Re: WTB: Tube integrated

Just sold (maybe... at this point, it's no money - no sale....) a quite rare Sansui SM-26 integrated all tube receiver, with AM/FM and Shortwave(!) for $125. New tubes are about $260, and with a good service, tuner alignment probably some caps, etc. could be a great little receiver for your shop for about $500 when you are finished. IF the person who bought it does not fork over the $125 by Wednesday, you can contact me if you are interested. At that point, I can email pictures, etc. It looks very retro, champagne colored case, face plate, tuner indicator is a little tiny television "tube" on the end of a TV tube that shows through the face plate!!

There are a couple of Dynaco SCA-35 integrates on Audiogon that could be decent candidates.

I'm thinking around the $400 mark.

Have original manual, warranty card and Pilot envelope it all came in. Looks very cool. New quad of el84's and was gone over by my tech back in Feb of '06. Not a recap, just replaced bad parts including rectifier diodes and such.Performs great.

I am here guys, I have just been running the last few days and haven't had time to check back.  Gary, The Pilot looks nice,  is it still available.  I know nothing of them, could you fill me in a little.  Noah, thanks for the offer on the Scott's, but space is somewhat of an issue, so I am going to have to pass on them, that is part of the reason I am looking for an stereo integrated.  Thanks alot for the input guys.

    Re: WTB: Tube integrated

    Yep, she's still here.

Pilot was around the same time as the rest of the big names from that era. Scott, Eico, Fisher and the like. They were known for using great transformers. Some will say that their SA-232 is one of the best stereo el84 amps made. They have been going for crazy money lately on eBay.

The 245-a is the integrated version of the 232. They use the same transformers. It is a real sweet sounding el84 tube based amp. This one is in excellent condition and I hate to see her go, but it has seen little use over the last year. I need to clear some space. I also have a Sherwood 5500 and Stromberg-Carlson AR-433 that need to go.

    mountainbiker,

there is a nice Onix Sp3 Mk2 for sale listed over on the Polk forum.  He is asking $550.00.  The seller is top notch and keeps his equipment immaculate.

Thanks for all the input and offers.  I have found a nice 299C that has been "Nosvalved" and am going to go that route.  Thanks again.
