Has anyone had any experience with replacing the sub amp panel that comes with the ProMedia 5.1 THX with a new Sub Amp panel such as the type from PartsExpress.com? If so where did you order yours? I am considering www.partsexpress.com the link is http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-804 The price is $129.88 plus shipping.
Just like everyone else I am upset that my ProMedia sub amp died. I get a muffled sound from the sub but nothing from the satellites. This is a way to find a new use from my sub. I will use the satellites with an older Yamaha RX-V480 pro logic surround receiver in the bedroom and that is where I will use the sub as well.
I screwed off the back panel to see that I have perfectly fine two 8" sub speakers in a nice ported box designed by Klipsch. Instead of the $90 to send the ProMedia sub amp panel back for repair I may decide to order a "build your own sub" sub amp panel and convert my original computer hook-up sub to a Home Theater hook-up sub.
The new sub amp panel will replace the panel that came with the sub. The new one will have a gain control, cut HZ control, high level and low level inputs and outputs for my right and left front speakers, auto-on feature, etc., just like a conventional home theater subwoofer.
I am considering a 240 watt amp sub panel. I understand from Klipsch that the two 8' sub woofers are 8 ohm each and they are now wired in series. I will need to re-wire them in parallel which I understand will then be seen as a 4ohm load and the full 240 watts from the new sub amp.
If you know of any other web sites to order a new panel or have any other suggestions please respond. Thanks
